13 years first real battle. 2 bitches in heat one in house one in garage.
New dog back last oct I bred gets out now it is 3 100lb bitches on one .
Drop food bucket. Panda got out of pen knock handle off.

The others raised as a pack the 2 males mind their business thank the Bleeping lord.
Gramndma ali also is like let the grand kids handle it.

Ice is on top, panda on bottom , spirt has the rear and Buffy is looking for which side to go on.

Throw water bucket get ice off, put away, use hose to get spirit off and YELL like u never could imagine and all of them pen up. Grab panda put her in pen. Secure everyone. NO one is getting FED this morning they got water and a fan on them.

I dont tell novice to gt in between but every time I did my dogs backed OFF of the down dog. but every time I got to Panda another one came from behind.

I am proud that the dont redirect on me or getted hyped up.
What helped is panda new she started something she could not finish she gave up and the dogs released her and were calming down enough to no redirect when i got them off. Then panda showed throat and gave up when she stands down.

Pack behavior i love it - now if this would of been the CAO type .
A dog would be dead.

I get a kick when they ay u must fight yur dogs to prove working ability.
Yeah right A they do it to determine pack status , b hormones of intact dogs make them more dominant. C they only fight the male and after this no doubt a working LgD pack is the FEMALES.. NOt males... A predator would have no chance .

Panda is huge boned so no big issues yet. NO bones broken. no huge tears- yet - they are stoic so I have to wait to get her washed dryed to see any punctures. Limping left rear and I look like i had a mud bath.

Ok either way keeping COOL under pressure is the key.
Having dogs that respect your alpha ness is essential.

As a expert I popped 1000 mgs of antibotics and a rimdyl in her .
They will need to go thru her with comb to find any holes.
They dont normally redirect and bite when they find a part of the bad thing.
Which makes for very little tears just sometimes deep holes.
Called vet he told me to dry her off and if need be we can come in tomorrow mourning OF COURSE ONLY ON a holiday !!!

Since this breed has a extra layer of skin called dewlap very thick, and loose skin thru body and all vital organs covered with skin fur huge bone and rib sqaure on back , no ears and a docked tail. This won break the bigger bank.

If she needs to go to Vet it will be for piece of mind.
Ive been to the Vet 1 time in 13 years for stiches with a CAS male.
and 1 time with a GSD mix with a ripped ear.
One could of been avoidedr my hubby pulled 2 males apart when if he would of given the drop it commond it would of been a hold vs a tear.
But u know men use muscle instead of brains.
Bitch in heat and just neutered male.
So know that it takes 2 months for hormones t leave a male after fixing
If she needs to grow hair back I use a produce called WONDER DUST it is the bomb.

Ok now that my heart has calmed down I can have my coffee. Who needs it . :) Think I am a awake now.
PS this was all my fault I changed my routine this morning cause I had a headache. Stayed up to late online. So I will learn from this.

i also made a mistake of putting panda into the pens first day last oct instead of bringing her inside and giving each dog a chance to pack up thru a fence. Panda in self preservation mode got fence aggressive when she came with certain dogs - later she gave it up for all but one. And they simply held a grudge. Again My fault I could of avoided all this.

i dont have my own blog yet so i wrote this fresh so i can learn and pass it on to my cas club.

Wow!

Can't say I haven't ever been in your position though. It sucks and it definitely gets your adrenaline going.

Oh man, pack fights were always my biggest worry at the resort. I had a hose and most dogs would avoid that, so I would many times end up doing just what you did...spray everyone down and start backing off dogs. Luckily in the years I was there, there was only one semi-serious fight on my watch--though to break it up it involved body slamming a St. Bernard. Thankfully he was so puzzled as to why I had just yelled at him that he had this "Duh, what?" look in his eyes, even as he had his mouth around the other dog's neck.

Acampbell, you could shove the hose right up my dogs' nostrils and they won't even think about relaxing their grip. And the more you scream and shout or hit on them, the harder they fight.

The worst fight I ever had was when I had 2 APBTs on a rescued "pit bull". That poor dog barely made it out alive and that was with me AND my husband working with break sticks to get everyone separated.

Wow, I'm glad you're an expert in these dogs. (I imagine you have to be to own that many successfully anyways) Sheesh, you're like the superwoman of the LGD world (to me anyways).

I have one question though, when you say they have "no ears" do you mean they don't really flop around much or that they get cropped?

They are typically cropped down to the skull I believe.

Bitch fights are the worst. Its hard getting two 60lb dogs apart, I can only imagine 100+ lbs. That would be scary.

Sorry guys Panda is doing OK but my body is beyond tired.

Water was in her face, they are very pack oriented and they do not really have the fight drive a Tosa could/would have/. I can control a dog by voice without leaving the room. They are very submissve to owners strong pack leaders. IF I say WHAT DID U do? with a stern voice 3 will run for crates. I can not yell at my hubby in front of Coz before a show he SULKS. Females recover quicker better from corrections. Males punish too easy. Male to male over a bitch in heat is over quick and they will separate when one gives. ANd they both live with no serious injuries.

Females injury area is smaller much but they dont separate as easy and can hold a grudge.

However i rather separate 150 pound males than smaller dogs. One hand on collar on top dog and One knee into the chest of the dog down with a back off voice that would stop traffic males are done 2 snaps. Females well BITCH is a under statement.
im 5 9 and my back is killing from having to bend down to pull them apart.
Small dogs would put me in chiro every day. I showed 4 JRT years ago and I came home looking like I had a car accident all that pending was horrible. Tough little dogs just love them too.
I won cause the little bugger saw a rabbit move in the booth next aisle and his tail was up what great bait I beat the breeder with her own dog cause her pup was ON.

Ears are cropped for 4 thousand years to reduce injuries and secondary infection.
They live come from a area that lacks vet care and were around before vets were created. So in a desert the more tissues even rip for a inch wont kill the dog the bugs and flies will kill the dog with secondary infection.

Ears are not cropped they are removed at 2 days so no surgery no crop to look tougher a working crop that was also done on Bouviers years ago when they worked.
Since it is done at 3 days we dont know which ones are going to work in Bear country or as a LGD and or a show home or a pet home.
We have had dogs stop bears and lions cougars from attacking homes by grabbing the bears ear and ripping it. I would of been at 911 today if she had a ear.
One clean puncture on head via ice and one smaller one under back leg.
Clipped her down with hubby helped and she is resting well enjoying the TLC
,
Yes anyone who breeds this breed needs to bea expert on dogs and in these type of breed. They become a expert by being open to suggestions and help.
I have learned more from friends than any of the 100 of books i collect, classes i go too and Vets i use.

OK i was tired from online stuff last nite I rarely make same mistake twice have a great nite to all thanks for the chatting.

Well surgery all surgery for ears done on Pits Danes the dogs are put under and plastic surgery is done to create a new ear look.
Done at 8 wks around.

CAS are done at 3 days and they get a local in the head , and the ear flap is not designed but snipped off . takes 3 mins per pup - same day they get docked.
recovery time is as long as it takes to get back to mom for comfort. NO side affects and no bandages. We now use wonder dust.

The most pain full is when they have a double dew removed. Ears are the easiest.
Even thou my vet does do it wrong by leaving to much on. I happy I can find a vet to do it.
I wont, other breeders do it themselves.

I am going to raise my new pup with Panda her name if FoxFire Spicy Meataball so she has a best bud..
