Before the boys had to be separated full time, Bear would be a jerk and hoard everything from Badger. He could've been laying down across the room, but if Badger picked anything up Bear would rush over and steal it from him.

Badger and Pig both steal from each other, but it's a game with them. Moreso for Badger. He will steal something from Pig, then circle back and shove it in her face for her to take for a game of tug. When Pig takes a toy from him it's usually for keep away games.

The only chews that get left out are nylabones. If Badger has it he'll usually chew it by himself for a bit before carrying it over to Pig. What happens next depends on what she's doing and how obnoxious Badger's being. If he just comes and lays next to her with it, she usually ignores him or maybe grumbles a bit if he squishes her. If he pushes it into her face she'll typically steal it and then get snarky when he tries to chew on the other side.

Bear never steals chews from Pig. If he has something she wants, she will back into/onto his face. Or she'll roll over and flop around and just generally maneuver herself right underneath his face so she can kind of 'push' him away from whatever it is she wants. He tolerates all of this and always ends up relinquishing whatever he has.

So basically Pig is the thief, Bear is whipped and Badger just wants everyone to play with him.

Pig can eat with either of the boys. Bear always finishes first, so Pig never gets an opportunity to steal from him. But Badger is slow and often likes to wander away from his food or take a mouthful and spit it onto the floor to eat from there. So Pig finishes hers and will go over to eat whatever falls from Badger's mouth unless I tell her to leave him alone.

Merlin only chews fun things in his crate. It was never really a tolerance or other dog issue...it was more of a "his stuff is gross" issue lol so now he just goes.

But it works because I don't take the risk with him chewing around other dogs anyway, he's never really had a problem... but Merlin is a boy that is crazy about his food and his ability to understand signals with other dogs has NEVER been his strong suit lol

Jules and Newt and Aesop can chew together, although I don't let anyone chew things around Aesop because everyone knows that he lets anyone and everyone take his things:rolleyes:

Goose, Nog and Brooks love high value things a little too much for me to be comfortable letting them chew together.

Everyone is fine with people being around their items though

Tucker lets Phoebe approach him without a worry, and she'll stick her face right in there to sniff. He will drag the item back a little bit but that's it. If she actually tried taking it from him I think he might growl/snap but I don't think there would be an actual fight or wounds or anything like that. He lets the cats near him but has snapped at them over stuff, usually if they step on him while he's chewing. But he will also guard the item if it's laying on the couch and one of the cats is sniffing it, he'll run over from wherever he is, snap at the cat and then grab the item and run. But that's rare, he needs to be in a certain mood and the cats need to linger sniffing his chew.

Mine are fine with each other, but not new dogs. They might lip curl here or there or let out a low growl, but they communicate well and the other dog will listen to such warnings. I don't need to worry about it unless there is only one high value item out and numerous dogs.

My guys are fine. They'll snark at Copper if she tries to steal it (because oh boy, will she), but nobody gets into fights. I do manage closer with Bloo, but right now she's chewing on a cow hoof with Copper and Em sitting nearby hopefully.

Overall mine are fine. I typically kennel Tulsa just because she will try to steal and I don't want to make the other dogs feel like they need to guard. Everyone is gone with me taking things, but I offer to trade with Rider because he can be a little odd and will try to hide it.

Oddly enough, even with my mixture of breeds, they can.

I have about 6 different antlers in the house. We cut them off of deer my husband has killed. I have a couple of cow skulls as well but they are not chewed on much either.

I typically either use crates or tie outs for high value treats like bones or whatever because I don't have to watch Lily for sneaking stealing behavior and no muss, no fuss that way. But they will both take goodies to their designated spot even if I don't shut doors or use the tie-out cables. :)

Lily came with food issues. Heck I'd have food issues too if I'd had to starve. We play impulse control a lot and I always feed Scout first, which minimizes it to the point where I am sure most people don't notice it. I'm always maintaining good behavior in her, so I'm tuned to see the really minute stuff. It is Lily one area of major insecurity. Luckily Scout is super laid back and willing to give, so lower value bones they can trade off no problem. Sometimes my parent's dog Will pees on a bone.... boys are gross!

Fable generally does fine with other dogs around while she is chewing. When I have a foster puppy, she will growl a warning if they get too close or try and take her chew, but most of the time she hops up on the armchair out of their reach instead of retaliating. She is fine with other adult dogs around her Nylabones, but I never put out anything really high value when there are other adult dogs around just because I wouldn't want anything to happen.

Other dogs ARE Hugo's highly valued prize, lol. I dint have another dog but with his dog friends he will lay and chew no problem. I'm not sure how he'd do if another dog tried to take something from him.

Nope, if I'm watching them both and they get peanut butter kongs, for example, Feist goes into her crate. She's too competitive an eater and will try to hoard all the bones/toys/chews and Wesley gives them up to her.

Not real bad, though I have noticed Knarly has gotten a bit huffy with age and will some times chase the others away from their tasty or not have any common sense in this area [just go bulldozing in]. For this reason, he may get sectioned off for his own safety.

Ro has some guarding issues with RMBs, but everything else they do well with...even treats, each sitting and waiting their turn.

If I'm there to watch it's absolutely not an issue. However, if it's really high value I don't leave them alone together with it unless Talon's in his crate. Talon will resource guard with other dogs, though with Art he hasn't even tried so much as growling at him. I've seen Art take a meaty bone directly from between Talon's front feet when Talon looked away, and Talon just looks at him and stares until he wins the bone back. :p But because of the size difference and the chance of guarding from Talon, they don't get left alone with high value treats.

Kibble, bones, and chews are all fine. It's more like....super meaty longer chewing items lol

Yes*

Unless its something like a pigs ear or a raw chicken part. Ruby will finish first, and then sometimes steal it from Buster. That has been a bit... bloody. After a couple times of being growled at, she learned its just easier to go beat the little dog up and steal his food after.

They can however chew on bones or sticks just fine. Its only a problem when Ruby eats all of hers first.

Can they? Yes. Should they? No, not really.

BUT...If I'm just sitting on the couch watching TV, I may give Ditto something to chew on her dog bed on the floor, and let Corvus chew something up on the couch with me. If either of them stop chewing and move from their spots, I take away the goods immediately. I don't give them the opportunity to harass each other because that would not go over well.

If I'm not able to supervise 100%, they are either crated, or separated by a door while they are having chews.

They are pretty relaxed about most of their toys. Ditto has her favorite things, Corvus has his. The super high value things are reserved for when I leave - Ditto gets one of her favorite "Ditto-Safe" toys in her crate, and Corvus gets one of his. I think they actually like it when I leave now because it's "OMG MY FAVORITE TOY YAY" time. Jerks! :rofl1:

Can they chew sticks together?.... Like "Lady & the Tramp". :lol-sign:

Neither one guards food but the little girl will crave what ever the boy is currently playing with. It does not matter if there are several identical items laying on the floor or not. The only toy that matters is the one he has at that time.
