I know a lot of people buy their dog food online, so...

Where do you normally order from? Do you always buy the same brand, or do you switch around based on what's on sale? Is it easy to find good deals/sales? What about shipping - is it normally free over a certain amount?

Thanks!

I buy dog food online a lot. Chewy.com is my favorite. I tend to add things to my order from there -- treats, chews, toys, etc, as I find them to be the best price and spend $49 and get free shipping.

I bought our last bag of food from chewy.com, I was very happy with the service. They have 2 day shipping free for orders $49+, I'll continue to buy my dog food there. I buy Fromm.

This last month I bought Abrams' and Cynder's food from Chewy.com. Had a very good experience and will probably order from them again! Not only was the food cheaper than in the store (I bought Pro Plan), it was tax free and shipped free since I spent more than $49.

I don't buy foods based on sales or switch up brands purely because Cynder eats one food and one food only and Abrams doesn't transition protein sources well. I try to stay with fish or turkey based foods for him. My wallet does also not appreciate spending big bucks on dog food, so that limits the amount of brands I can select from.

I've used Chewy, Petflow, doggiefood, and K9Cuisine. My favorite is Chewy because of their prices, however K9Cuisine has a few brands Chewy doesn't and has come decent prices as well.

Sorry about the little hijack here, but does anyone know of online dog food stores that will sell to Canada?

I typically go with petfooddirect.com when they have free shipping (like today) as you get some cash back with ebates too (although it's been canceled for no reason a couple times) and they have some coupons sometimes, or doggiefood.com (plus they often send random treat samples or whatnot too).

I have to buy cat food too though and she's picky so I like petfooddirect because they sell variety packs or her favorite cans... so it influences my decision a lot too.

Never heard of Chewy, I'll check it out.

I have been ordering my food from Amazon. Since I tend to buy the smaller, 5 lb bags, it makes more sense to stick with Amazon Prime's free 2 day shipping, than to try to bulk up the order to hit the $49

I bought from Chewy one time... a bunch of treats, some toys, and new crate bowls. I ordered three bowls, they only shipped two. Called and it was no problem, they would ship out another bowl. Box arrives... but it's JUST the bowl, without the crate clip. Called. "Oops, we'll send another." Box arrives... JUST THE BOWL. NO CRATE CLIP. Called. "Oh wow, I can't believe that. We'll send you another!" Box arrives... SAME. ****. THING. This time when I called I suggested they tell a manager about what's happening, because I can't believe I'm the only person this happens to since it happened THREE TIMES IN A ROW. "Oh, sure, I can do that. I'll also make a note on your invoice so the packing department sees what's going on." OH! A NOTE ON THE INVOICE! GENIUS!!! That time it FINALLY arrived correct. They were very nice each time I called and it was never an issue for them to set me up for a reship, they didn't want me to send back the cups or anything (they told me just keep them or donate them to the shelter if I can't use them) - but I was just not impressed with the whole experience. I don't want to have to work that hard to get what I paid for.

My co-worker orders food from them all the time and he never has problems, but it's only a big bag of food, nothing apparently "complicated" like a bowl with a crate clip. I won't order from them again.

I only use chewy. I usually check out the sales section, and add toys, treats, bones, etc when I order my food to get to the 49$. Only issue I had once was when they accidentally canceled my order- I made up a new order and they sent me a duplicate for free... So that was nice. Customer service has always been really great (they messaged me about the problem right when it happened so that I could make a new order, instead of me waiting to find out wtf happened).

I'll likely never use anything BUT Chewy -- I've ordered from them dozens of times now and had fantastic service every time. I can order on a Tuesday night at 10pm and have it arrive Thursday by noon. I order multiple different things too ... toys, chews, meds, food, etc. Always had amazing service. I heard it takes a bit longer for people on the West Coast for shipping though.
