I have been doing orientation for my new job all week and it looks like it will be better than I had hoped for....and I had some pretty high hopes.

Maimonides Hospital is in about the coolest neighborhood I have ever run across, and it draws its patient population form there. If you start two blocks south of the hospital you are in Brooklyn's bustling Chinatown. Restaurant oppotunities galore here, as well.

Then as you walk towards the hospital you suddenly find yourself in an Orthodox and Hassidic Jewish community.

Continuing past the hospital you wind up in a Latino section.

Each neighborhood has a completely different feel and business establishments. The transitions are incredibly sudden.

My program director looks really good too. That is really important since I have essentially indentured myself to him for the next four years.

And now I am BLS and ACLS certified again--you never know when you might need that.

Also I passed the required New York infection control training--with its unintentionally funny vignettes, and have satisfied our malpractice insurers requirement for practicing defensive medicine. WOOT.
