Blood in stools

I didn't read all the posts, so forgive me if I am repeating.
But hookworms, or roundworms can cause blood in the stool with young dogs.
And just would like to mention the fecal tests are not 100%, I like to worm my dogs as a preventative measure. There are alot of safer dewormers and I do use them about 3 times a year.

Vaccine schedule in Canada
6weeks puppy booster #1 which is distemper/parvo
12 weeks puppy booster #2 [same as #1]
16 weeks puppy booster #3 [same as #1 and #2] + rabies
1 year old booster vaccine and rabies again then every three years.
Here in my area we do rabies yearly because it is high risk zone but normally it is every three years.

You're over vaccinating your dog. The Rabies killed virus vaccine is good for at least 3 years and if you're having it done every year,

I wonder then if you could get the Rabies vaccine that is supposed to be good for only a year?
I understand the licensing, it's the only reason I'll have Dante vaccinated for Rabies at all, but it's a shame that you have to potentially harm your dogs.
Perhaps if enough people complained they'd go to the 3 year licensing.
I'm sure that's what got my county on to the 3 year program finally.
Of course, that means you have to have vets that are up to date on their own training in canine vaccines!

from what I understand the one year vaccine is the same as the three year vaccine. It just depends on how often it is lawfully required.
I know for a fact that in wv you have to get your dogs vaccinated against rabies every two years. Unless it is a pup and then you have to revaccinate a year later. But if I go over to Maryland and have a Maryland vet vaccinate my dogs it is good for three years........but since I live in wv, the three year vaccination is only good for two years, so I must get it again at the two year mark. Unless it is a pup, then I have to get it again at the one year mark.
I have real reason to believe that all the rabies vaccinations last up to three years, but depending on where you live, and severity of cases, and the law, it is thought to be different shots, but in reality are all the same.
So in reality the "one year shot" is the same as the "three year shot". I did question a vet on this and would not give me a direct answer. They just have to follow laws and therefore it seems like a one year shot would be less damaging than a three year shot, but what they give around here are all one in the same.

Although Charlie and Shiloh, because of our laws will need another in two years not three. Very confusing but it helps to do a little research for rabies vaccines in your area.

That is my understanding as well, but when I did some searching on the 'net before posting my reply I couldn't find anything. I wasn't sure if that first shot that they get is different than the boosters.
It's my sincere hope that one day everyone will realize that we're over vaccinating our animals and the licensing will follow suit.
Takes some dedicated campaigning by passionate folks to change law though!

The vets claim it is only good for 14 months and therefore yearly is not over vaccinating them. If the vets support the three year vacine then that is what would be law here. But I doubt that will happen because with the local vets here I think it is more about the almighty dollar.
That is why I drive into Ottawa for my vet! I prefer to ehar the truth then well ti costs this and needs to be done. Like the vaccine for Lyme disease....local vets insisted on it but the Ottawa vet said only in certain areas and not in my area is it needed. Waste of money!

Yuk ... when you have a vet you can trust, it's such peace of mind. We're on a 3 yr. here. ( Rabies ).. when we lived in a wooded area, the vet there recommended the lyme's as we had lots of deer. We aren't exposed here, so new vets say it's up to me as they don't know where I might travel. None of my vets like ( or liked ) over kill.... would spread out shots.
