Need to know the best way to ship a pup! :) (pic of pup included!)

Starting to do my research. I just agreed to adopt a puppy located in Tulsa, OK and need to get her to Sterling, VA! I am very excited. She will be able to travel in two weeks.

*happy dance*

Here she is, a little Heinz 57 pup...

... even with being underweight and wormy she looks quite adorable, I think! :D

You can also fly, drive yourself, etc. I'm flying out to Washington to go pick up my new dog this coming weekend :D

If you do decide a transport chain is the way to go, I may be able to help, depending on how I'm doing on money. I'm less than 3 hours away from Tulsa in Wichita, KS.

And by the way, that is an adorable pup ;)

my suggestion would be book the plane ticket and fly out yourself to get her, delta and continental both have great pet shipping programs, climate controled pet areas ect if shes too big to fly in cabin.

shes absolutly adorable!

Frontier has climate controlled pet cargo areas too, although they don't advertise it on their website (I asked when I called to add Logan to my return flight). They're also one of the cheapest to fly on. I can tell you how the service is in a week ;)

Frontier is basically a low-fare airline. And they're being taken over by Midwest, which is also a great airline from what I hear.

I would be kind of wary of Delta since they did lose a dog recently...and didn't seem to care much about it.

Thank you for all the replies! Unfortunately I do not think she will be able to travel in the cabin with me. According to her foster mom she is VERY vocal about not wanting to be in a crate. I don't blame her... as of last week she was feral (and COVERED in ticks and filled with worms... but I digress....). So, she will most likely need to travel in the cargo area. Otherwise I would want her n the cabin with me.

I will check in to Frontier! Otherwise Delta will be the way to go.

I did think about a chain (and have volunteers) but with her just recently being feral I think being passed from one person to the next for 20+ hours, not to mention stops, overnighting somewhere, etc... would be much harder than getting it all over in under 8 hours (hopefully closer to 6!).

Off to do a little more research. Thanks again for the replies!

Well, I cannot find a direct flight from Tulsa to anywhere within 8 hours of Washington DC....

So, I am looking at Operation Roger, a very long road trip or flying her in the cabin but she will probably need to be sedated (extremely vocal at this point about not liking kennels.... which I don't blame her since being around humans is all very new and her life has changed 100%).

Looking at those three options... what would you choose? Can you safely sedate an 8 week old puppy?

This is frustrating...

Look at Southwest, they should have something.

Good luck! And yes, we can help arrange transport. :D
