Bellpepper Died

I'm so upset... and shocked. I can't believe this. My beautiful betta boy, I loved him so much. I spoiled him freaking rotten in his big 'ol 21 gallon tank with the works. He was *fine* earlier. Perfectly fine. He was swimming around, happy as a lark, and following me around back and forth as I walked past the tank in my room. I come back a few minutes ago, looked in the tank, and he's floating dead. That quick. And he looks fine... no frayed fins, was a healthy weight, no bloating, beautiful bright color, his water temp was perfect, he had just eaten dinner last night and I was getting ready to feed him his dinner tonight...

I just don't understand. I'm going to get the water tested tomorrow. But the water should be perfectly fine, as it was just the other day. The tank was beyond fully cycled, he was the only fish in there and has only been the fish in there since the tank setup.

I'm shocked. And really sad. He may have been a fishy, but I loved him so much.

I'm sorry Bellpepper. :(

Actually they live for 5-6 years on average. My last boy died at the age of nearly 5.

And Bellpepper was only 6 months.

:( I'm sorry fluffy. Sometimes they die. I know how you feel. I've had a couple of fish die as well. You did good by him...

He was in the tank for 6 months or you bought him at 6 months because you say that you just cycled your tank? I have a 20 gallon tank with guppies, a Clown Loach (my favorite fish), 2 good-sized Plecos, and 2 Corydoras. The guppies breed on their own and since there is plenty of plant cover, many of the fry survive.

Boxer, it';s neither the place nor the time. Please stop.

RIP Bellpepper. I hope you at least find an answer for what happened. *hug*

Umm.... the fish died and you're going on about it's care. Like Allie... it's neither the time... nor place... and frankly I don't think anyone would give a rat's ass what you'd have to say anyways.

Boxer, I'll say it once. This may be a public forum, but back off my ass. I'm getting pretty sick of your nonsense one thread after another on here. And this is absolutely not the thread to spout your bullsh!t, and I seriously don't want to hear it.

I just wanted to see why it died. Is that bad? Who was talking about care? Do you even know what it means to cycle a tank?

YES she knows what it means.

Gawd, lay off it. She lost her pet, show a little sympathy.

Man, am I glad you weren't around when Ilsa died.

This may be appropriate here.....

I've said this once before recently, so this is the last time I will say it...

This is not a witch hunt forum!!!!

New posters do not need to be talked down to. They do not need to be called liars or assumed to be BYB based on first impressions, regardless of what their site or posts may indicate.

I am sick and tired of the attitudes around here. No one is above anyone else, regardless of how great you think you are or how long you have been here.

Our goal is to educate, not humiliate, demean or prove a point. And it certainly isn't anyone's right to jump to conclusions based on limited information.

If you can't have a civil discussion or ask questions in a non-accusing manner, then I suggest you take a step back, calm down and rethink what you are about to post.
Asking someone if they know how to cycle a tank after they earlier mention they've had fish for "five years" seems pretty condescending to me.

FZC, sorry about Bellpepper, fish 'issues' always seemed like a bit of a mystery bordering on voodoo to me....the only one I ever figured out was ick.

Aww Fluff I'm sorry :(

I've never had luck with fish, I do everything by-the-book right, and they still die on me for no known reason.

(((hugs)))

(and I'm seriously glad I came in AFTER people had already told Boxer to back off, cause I wouldn't have been nearly so nice about it).

"Just a fish" means nothing. He was a pet, and the type doesn't matter. It's always hard to lose one.

He was incredibly beautiful.
