I love snakes.... I am weird... I also live where there are none that are likely to do more than give you a pinch if you bug them... I may feel differently if I lived where there are varieties of venomous snakes!

THe skinks, this snake, my toads, the butterflies, the birds, the sunlight through the trees, and the sounds of the owls. Except for my human neighbors, this place is perfect for me, including no steps, and small enough I can manage. It makes me happy as all get out to see a snake like that and be able to watch it for a few minutes. Pictures in books are just not the same. ONce I got up and was watering the garden when I put the hose on mist and huge spiderwebs appeared everywhere. In the morning sun they sparkled like diamonds. It was beautiful. And a few weeks ago one night, our really first unusually warm one, I got to see lightening bugs all over the trees in the woods. THey weren't flying around, and the leaves weren't out yet much so you could really see them. IT looked like Christmas lights. That was awesomeness. I woke Hyia up and we sat out and watched it for a long time. The next day it was cold and I haven't seen a lightening bug yet in the evening. I thought it was way too early.

Awww very pretty little guy!

I quite like snakes, but unfortunately most I get to see around my yard are being taken care of by the business end of Skye. I will stop her if I catch her in time, but she is definitely the resident snake hunter.
