I live in Canada where's theres been alot of problems with the breed especially in Ontario. I live in the Manitoba area and so my pitbulls don't get a whole lot of grief for their breeds myths. I love Staffies too i think their beautiful. Do you have one?

*waves* I'm an American, just adopted 2 pitbull pups. I wouldn't say that they are really 'accepted' here as house pets, but that's mostly because of the media stigmatism that is attatched to them. For some inane reason, if you have a pit, people who don't understand the breed automatically think you're either a drug dealer, criminal, or using them for fighting. That they are this vicious creature that will just as soon rip your head off as they would sit with you.

When I told my MIL that I was planning on getting two, she went off the deep end and called me every day for 2 weeks to tell me about another Pitbull mauling that she had heard of. It wasn't until after a lot of research e-mail to her and her coming to meet my girls did she concede that they couldn't all be bad.

On a side note: every pitbull that I've met has been a family pet and excellent with people.

I own 27 dogs in all lol. I know it sounds crazy but im a musher/breeder and live on a large ex horse breeding ranch so i have the room and money but its tough lol. Out of all of them I own three Pitbulls Zeus (blue and white) male who is 4 years old, Tundra (brindle) female who is 1 year old, and my newest addition Babe (white) female who im assuming is around 11 months old. All three are rescues and wonderful dogs.

I do see Staffies every once in awhile it can be hard at times to tell them apart from Pits. I do have a friend Kathy who had a Staff named Pumba but he died three years ago of cancer.

Hi, u actually took the words out of my mouth reguarding the stigmatisim, thats how people in this country see them as well, i didnt want to say anything because i didnt want to offend anyone and i didnt know the status of the breed over in the states. Over here Staffords have a bit of a stigmatisum from the crappy british media, but half the time they r crossed with a bull mastiff or somthing but always forget to say that, unfortunatly i have never had the pleasure of meeting a pitbull, i do truley like them.

Whats interesting when you said that Most Staffs are cross bred with mastiffs but people mislable them purebred Staffs. Same thing goes on here and in the U.S. with Pitbulls most that get caught in the media are crosses usually with lab or anouther bull breed. It greats really annoying.

I feed organic raw supplimented with Innova dog food. Im lucky with the raw because my dads friend owns an organic ranch and sells us meat and such cheaper then usuall and the feed store where i buy my Innova sells it rather cheap for Innova. Only nine out of the 27 are active breeding dogs four of which are males. Their only seperated when a ***** is in heat. It is tough work but I enjoy it I grew up around it and I would'nt live any other way.

In South Africa almost everyone I know has/has had a Staff at one stage or another. Ever heard of Jock of the Bushveld?? There are also a lot of Pitbulls there, as there is no BSL in SA. I have always found both to be friendly, and I particularly love the Staffy.

Hi I am proudly owned by a staff. Shes in my signature, I adore her and couldnt imagine my life without her now, i think staffs are the most loving dogs ever, but i would say that.

Im from Wales (thats in the UK, not England, a lot of non europeans make that mistake).
