Both of my computers "just work". I have had zero problems with them, and they do exactly what I want them to do when I want them to do it in the way that I want them to do it.

Perhaps you're just too lazy to figure out how to use something you've spent hundreds, if not over a thousand, dollars on and blame the product instead of yourself?

I admit….. I had a few hardware issues with my MacBook the first years…. I was getting a bit worried… Since it was repaired however it has been flawless…. NO issues at all… I was burning through PCs doing the exact same things my Mac has done for me with 0 software issues… I LOVE it….

I have an Ipad as well…. It is more of a flat out toy, but I love it too!!!!!

You took the words right out of my mouth! lol I absolutely LOVE my MacBook <3

I just can't see myself going back to a PC at all!!! Sometimes I have to use the PC computers at school (most times I try to get there early so I can use one of the Macs. lol) and I almost throw the stupid thing out of the window every time. It drives me insane and it is SO slow :lol-sign:
The PCs and my school are so ridiculously slow. But that wouldn't matter if they were PCs or Macs, it has (likely.. and if not then they could be really old) with the servers or mainframes.

THe mac books I have used are no faster than the laptops of similar specs I have used. And if they are it often due to software. You could run linux on a PC and be fast too (if its software related)

I hate how once you go apple , it is all apple from there on out.

so PC for me.
Eh, I've "gone Apple" in a few different work environments and that definitely isn't the case for me. I had just as many problems with the Mac machines as Windows machines. I think I've said this on here before but IMO the best part about the Mac Mini is you can pick it up in ONE HAND and chuck it out the window when you've had enough! Genius! The G4 would have taken both hands and some greater application of effort and strength to fling it out the window.

You obviously shouldn't be using a mac then
She is likely the typical Mac user. A user who doesnt want to tweak, customize and make the system more her own. A user who wants to turn it on, do her business, and turn it off.

Nothing wrong with wanting something to work right out of the box, but that isnt me. I like to tweak and customize and getting my feat wet with Linux using Ubuntu allows me to do that on a level I couldnt using XP and that would be impossible with OS10 or any Mac OS.

Using/owning a Mac however is more of a security risk then a Win box is. Macs are far easier to break into then newer Win boxes. Most Mac owners dont run anti virus programs. Mac owners are more susceptible to phishing schemes and lose more money from them then Win users.

Eh, it kept Necho entertained for a bit. I tried to keep him out of trouble ;) No one really thinks I care which computer they use, surely?

And yah, the computer is something I don't want to have to twiddle with -- there are too many other things I work with that involve customizing and tweaking, things that interest me far more than computers. They're just not all that fascinating to me. If I buy one I expect it to do what I bought it to do, just like some people buy a car and don't want to ever have to look under the hood.

It's pretty interesting to hear everyone's different opinions. I've always been a PC person, as I like to build my own system and tweak things. I've had a homebuilt/frankenstein system of one kind or another since the late nineties.

Then Robert had to get a Macbook Pro for school, since that's the only kind of computer they use there. He adores his Macbook, but he has NO idea what to do with the guts of a computer. lol. I think it's cool they can fit all that stuff in a tiny little space, but then again he wants a RAM upgrade and I can't do it for him. We have to pay something like $200 in labor, I don't remember if that includes parts or not. Even if I knew how to work on the Mac, it would render the warranty void.

We'd been wondering, since his original Macbook got stolen and we bought a replacement with the insurance settlement. The thief was caught and his computer recovered, so the insurance company is giving us a chance to buy it back from them at a reduced rate. We toyed with the idea of doing it so I would have a laptop too...but I don't think we'll keep it. If we get it back we'll probably resell it and buy a crappy pc laptop for word processing purposes that I can use.

Im sure I could have fun with this.

Im going to stick with typical Mac owner.

Nothing to do with Renee, but why do many Mac owners perceive themselves as smarter then the average PC user? Or should this question be a new thread?

I have a friend with a MAC, he seems to think he's enlightened or something.

All I want to do it switch it on and go. And quickly. All I do is browse and upload pics.

I think its a case of "a few bad apples ruin the batch"

There are a few macbook owners who are DOUCHEBAGS (pardon my french) who think that Macs are the only thing in the world and PCers are stupid.

There are PC owners who are DOUCHEBAGS who think that mac owners are "stupid people who spend all that money blablablabla"

IMO a douche is a douche regardless of what he is surfing the internet with.

I'm a typical Mac owner! I don't want to tweak, customize, or make the system more my own; it's already more machine than I know how to use. Turn it on, do what I do, turn it off--that's exactly what I need. More would not, for me, be more.

But I am interested in hearing about the anti-virus thing. I didn't know that my Mac was at risk. You people who know about this sort of thing, what would you suggest?

For the record, I have no idea whether Mac's are cooler than PC's. I am personally not cool, so I find it a non-issue.

For advice on Macs and viruses, you need to ask Nikki (Buddy'sParents). :) She's better versed on them than probably anyone else on the board, and her husband, Demitrious, well, he probably has more expertise, esoteric AND practical, on ANY format of computer than everyone here put together

Macs dont necessarily need anti virus but there are viruses written for Macs, and more and more are popping up. Main reason for AV on Macs is for emails, if you forward emails and send files downloaded from the net you could be sending infected files to your Windows using friends.

Another security risk with Macs was using Safari. Previous Pwn2Own competitions used Safari to exploit the Mac, and the Macs always fall the fastest.

I have a Mac and my next computer will most likely be a PC...

....

....

Is the world done exploding yet?

....

....

Now? Good.

:lol-sign:

I LOVE my mac, I really do, but I feel like I can spend less money on a PC and have it work just fine. I need the interwebz, photoshop, someplace to store photos, and that is about it.

Also, Ryan's PC was about $800 more expensive than my mac, so it's not just the mac users who are shelling out $$ for their gadgets.

I use a Windows machine, Win7 to be exact. (f*cking HATE vista) and I love the crap out of it. Being able to get rid of excess garbage slowing my machine down, (bloatware sucks hard) and able to customize what I want is the best part. I liked XP a TON, but I'm finding I really really enjoy Win7.

I haven't ever built my own computer, but I think I'm going to do that with my tax refund. It should be interesting. The bad part about my netbook is that it lacks the power to play games, and I definitely want to be able to run games on my computer.

Windows machines do have to deal with viruses, but I find that if you are smart about anti virus software, you don't have complete meltdowns, and have to replace your computer.

But then again, I'm also a huge Android fan. I just wish I could understand the SBF stuff so that I could root my phone and be comfortable with doing stuff from the terminal. I don't really understand all that, so I haven't done anything to my phone, though I really would like to get rid of some of the crap the phone makers are forcing on my phone. (ie, Twitter, and not being able to delete the stupid f*cking app)

I am always amazed at the whole MAC fan club as a whole. They are always the ones bashing PC's and we generally leave them alone.

I have both. I have a reconditioned Dell that I love to bits and works super well and a iMac. The brand new one. The iMac is the worlds most expensive music system at the mo. No one likes it, everyone hates it so it sits downstairs and plays music for friends. LOL

I have a Toshiba and it's been a pretty dandy little machine. A bit quirky, but still works well enough.

I've toyed with the idea of getting a Mac next because they do still tend to be the best at photo/graphics editing and that's what I do the most of, beyond general internet surfing. Then again, if I could get a powerful enough machine to easily handle Photoshop, I'll stick with the PC.
