This was totally me while I was actively pursuing a puppy. I wanted a variety of different breeds but I ultimately chose based on planned litters and what my lifestyle (read: husband) can accommodate right now. I chose Rat Terriers on kind of a whim, I guess, I knew they sounded great on paper and once I was decided on it, I was committed and didn't even continue pursuing other breeders/litters/breeds while I waiting a year for my puppy.

Next dog I'll probably go through the same thing and mostly it will depend on the dogs available at that time.

I love my ES, but worry I won't be able to find one as awesome as Hudson. Then I also like sighthounds. big and majestic. But then there are French Bulldogs that are just like, "ugh, my heart!" Then we have Rat Terriers who just look like a bundle of happy, fun.

And then there is my husband that thinks we should just have cats....

I really would love an ES one day too but I'd want a Hudson or a Quinn and I feel like they're the minority. :(

This is literally a problem.

I can NOT find the perfect breed for me. I just can't. If I do, I will probably look at this other breed and be like "OOHHH THIS IS SO CUTE I WANT IT!" It's like a problem. I like a BC, then oh look a GSD, wow is that a Lab, hey an Aussie sounds fun, a toller seems soo cool, etc. :lol-sign:

I have this problem majorly, most of the breeds I want to own will 100% NEVER happen, but still, I hope.

doable:
poodle (large mini or standard)
english shepherd
malinois or WLGSD (OH's dream dogs NOT mine, but since I will be living with them, I have to list them I suppose)
rough collie
standard aussie

NOPE (but a dream of mine)
fila
cane corso
rottie
dogo argentino
AM bully (a well bred one, not a froggy one)

Yes, this. They seem like cool dogs no matter what, good family and farm dogs, but not sure they're what I want unless I can be sure to get one like Hudson or Quinn. I would have to meet some more.

Obviously someone needs to tell Quinn's owner that we need to breed our dogs and create the ultimate ES

Well I was pretty darn set on just border collies and german shepherds forever but I've visited a greyhound rescue where I'll potentially be working twice now and there's at least four greys there that I need to take home

Not so much anymore. I used to. But now I pretty well just want Aussies, and if room/time/money permits, I'd someday like a Koolie with my Aussies. I think I'd also like a Belgian still at some point as well, but not for a while. And a Leonberger if I ever end up with my dream house/property. And every once in a while I think I'd like a Whippet, but I don't know. I love my friend's Whippet, but I don't love all Whippets.

Honestly, I just want Elsie... like forever.

I try to get my boyfriend to talk to me about what breed he wants in the future, but he's pretty hush hush about it.

I'm pretty set on my breed/type, but I waffle back and forth on that simply because of agility. Obviously any healthy dog within reason has the potential to do agility and do pretty well, but it might be nice to actually have a dog that comes from proven performance lines. Herders (BCs, Sheltie) are the obvious choice for that, but I don't think I want either of those. So I shall try the herding-spitz next and hope for the best :p Then who knows - maybe I'll decide to go more in the herder direction one day.
