Dock dogs is something that I'm really interested in getting into with Nextdog and I am thinking that it would be an excellent use of my maternity leave to start learning all that I can about it so that when Nextdog comes along, I have a good foundation of knowledge.

I am a complete novice when it comes to dog sports. I have no idea what you guys are talking about with your acronyms and titles. I would LOVE to attend some events this summer and fall to start getting familiar with the sport.

Anyone here compete and care to be a friendly face at any upcoming events? I promise to be helpful and not drive you crazy!

Thanks Adrianne!
Thanks hound girl! I read the website start to finish (I'm hoping to go to the August practices/events in Alliston!) but never thought to check to see if they had a Facebook group!

If I were you (and the FB page is active) I would introduce myself there and explain what you hope to gain before Nextdog.

DockDogs events are SO fun! Everyone is helping and encouraging others, chatting with friends, etc. It's usually bloody hot, but it's fun!

I don't dock dive, but I have several good friends who are very active in it. From what I gather, it's an expensive hobby (membership fees, annual fees, jump fees), but lots of fun. There's Dock Dogs, Ultimate Air Dogs, and probably a few other clubs that hold events.

I'm moving only about 10 mins away from Alliston! I would love to meet some Chaz people if anyone's ever out that way :)

Oh yay! Where about SitStay? Close is a relative term when you live in Podunk like I do. I'm used to driving 30+ to get to anywhere.

There are DockDog practices every other Wednesday at this farm. I've been there once before for a rescue fundraiser.

Cool! I know where that is!

Ask and ye shall receive! I was just searching on Facebook for dock diving groups and an invite popped up for a BBQ at the place in Alliston for this Sunday with a bunch of anti-BSL people! How lovely that my worlds collide.

Now to work up the courage to attend and not feel like a total awkward outsider...
