I spent the night over at my grandma's house last night, she has a rescue Foxhound, Addie, who is 3ish years old? And she has a 9 month old Goldendoodle, Bentley, who is HUGE, he's gotta be 85-90lbs.

It annoys me when people think that just because you're a "dog person" you want to be jumped on obnoxiously all night and deal with dogs jumping up on the counter and sticking their noses in your bowls, etc. Don't get me wrong, our dogs (family dogs) can be annoying too, and are not the most "obedient" by any means, but my grandma's dogs.. I can't even describe. I just find them incredibly annoying. lol. And I feel bad saying it because they're both really sweet, but they're almost just SO derpy and dumb that they make me so irritated.

The thing with them is, they have energy but they're not 'high energy' per say... and they really have no drive. They don't have much desire for toys, or a ball, or food. My grandma has had her goldendoodle in training classes for the past 8 weeks, but she says he's just so stubborn. He pretty much only sits. He likes food, but is not super willing to learn. And Addie... literally doesn't want to learn anything. So then what happens is you have one dog who is untrained and doesn't listen (won't even follow food for a lure and hates toys) and a puppy 3x her size acting the same way. He will sit by himself but then Addie is jumping up and down and so he starts.

God, it was just stressful last night. And again they're both so 'dumb', I started yelling and stomping my feet (I lost my temper after they would NOT stop jumping on me no matter what I tried, and I consider myself a decent trainer) and they don't even CARE. You could be screaming at them or hitting them (not that I was) and they literally... just are wagging their tails, smiling at you! :yikes:
Jackson attacked each of them once because they were just so incredibly rude. And he's a very tolerant dog, but he had enough of just being stepped on and jumped on, and then Bentley would bite him (playfully, but hard) but it was like they didn't even learn.

I love learning what kind of dogs I do and don't like though! lol... I now know that I love high energy dogs, but a certain type of energy for sure. I would go batty with dogs like that. And again, it's hard to explain in words, because I sure as hell don't mind a dog who is not exactly the best behaved and maybe a bit in your face sometimes, but these guys were just so incredibly obnoxious. And my grandma kept laughing, she thought it was cute and funny. I also took Bentley on a 4 mile walk and played in the backyard for an hour and they were all still just super annoying.

I like some dogs, but I've long since learned that I am not a "dog person". I'm way too picky about the ones I like to ever use a blanket statement like that. :p

Lol, yes, I have learned through the years I am very picky on a dog I would actually choose to own or live with. I feel like such a snob.

I hear yah, I am very, VERY picky with my dogs. I am honest with myself to know that I just don't have patients for a dog I don't like. Its hard for me not to loose my patients and my cool.

I have been watching a friends Airedale pup for the past month or so and I realized very quickly that he is just not the dog for me. He lacks drive, manners, he is way too needy. I am constantly tripping on him. He is always jumping up on me. He has gotten better since he has been spending the days with me, but I know for a fact his owner in not doing that much with him.

I can't wait for the day till I don't have to watch him anymore.

I learned over 2 years of dog walking and 2 years of in home boarding that OMG most other dogs annoy the crap out of me if I'm around them for extended periods of time. ARRRGG! I love my dogs, and the occasional other dog I will really like but SO many of them are just so irritating. I expect it is all bias though, probably my dogs would annoy me a lot more if they weren't mine.

Kind of unfair of me, I will admit it. But I also think most people just raise and train their dogs terribly!

Plus I am really picky about what kinds of dogs I like.

Ok I'm glad I'm not the only one. I work at a dog daycare and can't stand majority of the dogs that stay there during the day. I used to think I was a major dog person, but I realize more every day how picky I am and how important training is.

Maybe it's a seasonal thing. I do get a lot of other people's dogs are annoying, I find that too but since the weather has started cooling down in the past few weeks even my own dog is driving me batty.

She's been whining allll the time trying to get me to play with her, including continuously waking me up 5-6 times per night for the last 2 nights because she wants me to play with her. She sticks her face riiiight beside my head and whines and wakes me up and then the moment I open my eyes she brings tennis balls. Even after I take her to the park during the day and play fetch.

I've been saying I'm going to skin her and make her into a nice fur hat soon if she doesn't stop annoying me :rofl1:

Yes. Yes. Yes.

My friend has a dogsitting business, and she recently had to go out of town... so I took all 6 of her boarding dogs, along with her 3 dogs! AND MY 2 DOGS! THAT'S 11 doges.

Surprisingly, the most annoying dogs by far were my friend's dogs. How do you become a well paid boarder/trainer when you have the most annoying, loudly non-stop barking dogs ever? Idek.

God yes. My two are by no means issue free, but every day at daycare I get more thankful for them. Working at a doggy daycare is a wonderful, womderful way to determine which breeds I would choke out if I had to live with them

I guess I'm the oddball, I like most dogs, even of the obnoxious jumpy variety.

THIS totally!

Boarding made me check SO many breeds off my list. In fact I had to go out and get only breeds that I have never boarded, haha. Having them in the house 24/7 almost drives me insane with some dogs! I don't understand how people live with some of them! (that being said, my dogs would probably drive some people crazy too).

I used to really, really like GSDs, but I have a pair that I board really often and they totally soured the breed for me. I fully understand that there are really nice GSDs out there too, but those dogs are so over the top annoying that I just can't look at the breed the same way, ever again :(

(I would love to meet some nice GSDs and change that opinion!)

I love almost every dog if I'm just meeting it briefly, but having them in my house for extended periods of time is what really gets to me. When I'm not dealing with them, then I love 'em!

I do too - it's what makes me well suited to teaching puppy classes, haha.
The bratty ones are the best... that's why I like Auggie. And Payton.

This is me too. I love meeting other people's puppies or brief interactions with any dog or even weekend getaways with friends and all of their dogs -- but dogs that I have to live with or spend long periods of time with just make me appreciate MY dog all the more.

I'm of the "love all dogs no matter how annoying they are" variety. I don't really care anything about manners, haha. Jumping, barking, running around the house like a lunatic, and general craziness just don't bother me!

To me, dogs are like kids. I like my own (I don't have any yet, but I hope I like them when I do:rofl1:) and the ones in my family that are well behaved.
