From what I gather from very limited details, Veronica tried striking a plea deal on December 11th, and Penny refused, so the actual trial will be in March.

Best in Show Daily is reporting that today the judge has ordered Piper to be returned, but she isn't actually home yet. Fingers crossed for the owner that this is almost over!

Well that didn't take very long

But knowing how these things work, i'm not holding my breath that the dog ever makes it home. Too many incidents of nothing every actually happening to the offenders for me to take courts seriously anymore. what are they going to do to her if she doesn't return the dog? threaten her with contempt?

I hope for the dog's sake it makes it somewhere safe and this whole saga is over soon

Filing more appeals is just crazypants. What is even going on with this woman running COSR that she can't let this go? If nothing else, how can she possibly justify using so many resources on this battle?

The "bring Piper home" Facebook page says Piper and her owner have been reunited and they will be posting photos soon, so I'm guessing at this point Piper's owner has seen her.

I think a few months ago Piper was seen by a vet, too, as part of a court order to prove she was still alive.
She was ordered to be seen in court for a vet evaluation last spring, and according to Veronica, who was allowed to be there for it, she didn't look good.

I really doubt she was going to say "The dog looked fantastic!" :p

It's irrelevant just my sense of humor. But, I meant that it works in their favor to indicate they treated her poorly, regardless of whether the dog was cared for or not.

So happy she got her dog back:) I hope the court system squashes the appeals before they get anywhere, as the nonsense that they are. Isn't this several court rulings now that the dog must be returned? How many cases can one try one case for? Lordy.
