I was outside this morning washing hubby's mustang (trying to be a good wife and suprise him with a clean car) and of course Andy had to be outside with me. Otherwise he would have sat by the door and barked, thus waking hubby up. Anyways, I put him on his leash of course and tied him loosely to one of the columns in front of our house. Everything was fine until some idiot in a truck drove by with a huge black lab in the bed of the truck. The lab wasn't tied down or anything and stood up and barked really loudly at Andy. This must have totally ticked Andy off because he lurched towards the truck so hard that he came out of his collar and took off flying down the middle of the road :yikes: I freaked and took off running after him, positive that he was going to be hit by a car. This is a very busy road and cars tend to drive insanely fast on it. Luckily, Andy stopped when the truck got out of sight, but he still made it a good ways away from our house. Obviously I finally caught up to him and carried his little butt home, but my adrenaline is still pumping. I was so mad at him, but all I could do was hug him because I was so scared that I was going to lose him. Andy has never ever shown any interest in chasing cars before, but I guess the lab must have really gotten to him. Lesson learned...next time he can just stay inside and bark

Eeeeeek! Shelties are notorious for slipping collars. Auggie wears one of those little harnesses because I'm paranoid of something exactly like that happening!

I swear, those little boogers ENJOY finding fun and exciting ways to scare the pants off us... I'm so glad he stopped and is safe!

How scary! I'm glad he's okay.

Shelties cannot wear regular buckle collars when on lead. You can use a buckle collar for tags an such, but for walks you have to get a harness, haltie, or martingale collar.

LOL BAD Andy!!

Riot needs to have a talk with him.. Brave little guy too!! lol

That Lab must have been cursing something aweful at him eh lol.

SOO glad hes home safe. A Harness might be a good investment as well - it seems to confine Crosbie quite well when hes having his "issue attacks"

I know that and Andy does have a harness that he wears any other time. He was sleeping on the front porch when all of this happened and kept getting tangled so I took it off of him and tied him loosely but securely around the post with just the collar. My mistake I know, but Andy has NEVER left my side and usually shows no interest in other dogs. I've learned my lesson the hard way though....no more collars for Andy

LOL, Yeah, I'm not sure what the lab said to him but it must have been really insulting. I've never seen Andy get that upset. I mean, he was totally outraged :lol-sign:
