Am I the only one who forgets verbal cues?

I was out playing tug with Kailey today and I wanted her to drop it. But, for the life of me, I just could not remember that cue. I use it multiple times a day, but it was just slipping my mind.
I told her "out" and it worked (probably because I've done this before and she's also great at reading body cues) but I knew that just wasn't the right word.
Not until we had gone inside did I remember that I usually say "let go".

Honestly, this is probably why I do better at agility than dog dancing. I'm terribly inconsistent with my verbal cues when it comes to freestyle, but I don't have to remember much for agility. :lol-sign:

Oh I forget all the time! Or I'll just spit out a random word that is not at ALL what I wanted, and my dogs are all "WTF?" :rofl1:

I do teach verbal and signals, so I can generally get at least one or the other...but yeah, I have my moments ;)

Oh gosh yes I'm terrible. I am not above flailing and yelling (babbling...I don't actually scream at my dogs) until the dog gets down their list of cues to the one I want haha. Bailey has at least two commands for each task, just because I can't be consistent. Although guests get a kick out of the fact that he responds to "beat it," "get outta here," and "leave please."

I don't forget too often but when I don't remember I just say 'Yoshi!!' and she stops and looks at me and usually knows what I want.

I get my left and right mixed up a lot... then get really mad when she's "not listening to me" (when really, she is) until 5 minutes later I realize that was really my left/right side :rofl1:

My dogs work mostly off hand signs... I'm always forgetting verbal cues >.< It doesn't help that my dogs don't have the SAME cues, either.

But, I also can't remember their names properly. It's common for me to say "Bukra.. I mean.. Jolene.. I mean.. Ru - DARN IT, YOU that I am looking at! Aus! I mean.. out! I mean.. drop it!" All the while the dog has already done that I wanted anyways LOL

My name is Kim, my cat's name is Cricket, and my dog is Kailey.
Most family members use all three interchangeably.
Oh, and my aunt is planning on naming her daughter Kailey. (The first syllable is pronounced differently in the two names, but still...)

I forget sometimes, other times I just don't care. I'm spoiled on a dog that knows too many words and several hand signals to go with each. I can be scatter-brained, it's nice to have a dog that thinks just a little faster than you sometimes!

I'm heavily reliant on hand signals...my dogs will almost 100% respond to hand signals, and maybe 60-70% of the time to verbal cues, depending on which. I'm trying to switch Romeo over as he loses his vision, but I have a hard time dropping the hand signal.

We have Rosey, Renegade, Harley and Ella. I usually run through all the names before deciding who I'm talking to. Then I just end up going "WHOEVER YOU ARE". Doesn't help that I cant tell Ren and Ella apart unless I'm seeing them face-on.

My mom goes through the pets PLUS the three kids -- Tracey Jess and Alex before deciding who she's talking to/about most of the time XD

I will admit, it was a lot worse when we had Rosey Rascal Renegade and Rogue. All Rs was a bad idea LOL

My son's name sometimes get thrown into the mix, too LOL

Everyone has pretty learned by now, that if I'm looking at you - I'm talking to you, no matter WHAT name I'm calling you (and if it's your name, and I'm not looking at you.. you're safe!) lol

And that is with having names that sound NOTHING alike, either :-/ I mean, there are two R names and two B names.. but even still, that's all they have in common lol

I do okay remembering *a* cue - I just forget which dog I'm dealing with sometimes! For the most part, I'm being very careful to use the same cues for Meg and Gusto, but a few things are different. When I ran Meg at agility practice a few weeks ago, for the first time in forever, I kept slapping my left thigh and telling her to set up, and she just kept spinning around randomly. Because, of course, that is Gusto's start line position. Meg wraps around my right leg and sits between my legs with 'tuck in'.

Lol, yeah, I'm awful. I don't think Jackson really even knows that many verbal cues. I could just say "spin" without moving my hands and he would probably look at me. But I always say it along with the hand motions.

The only thing he usually obeys to verbally is sit, down, stay and roll over oddly enough. It's something I need to work on.
