After the first batch went awry, the girls love them.

I made some home made dog treats today, banana 'buiscotti'. The first batch was horrible, I ended up adding way too much flower (oops I didn't know it was supposed to be sifted flower  )

However, I decided to try again and the second batch came out perfect. They taste almost like banana nut bread cookies only a little dryer. The best part is the girls love them.

Hooray for my first batch of home made dog cookies!

Here ya go. :)

Banana 'Buiscotti':
5 cups white flour*
1/4 cup peanuts, chopped
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 medium egg
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups pureed banana
2 teaspoons vanilla
water

Preheat oven to 325. Mix dry, then wet ingredients until lumpy. Add water, one teaspoon at a time as needed. Knead by hand on table until mixed thoroughly. Form into logs 2"-2 1/2" high, flatten so that log is 6"-7" wide by 1" high. Bake on non-stick sheets 30-40 min. Remove and cool for 10 min. Slice into 1/2" - 3/4" slices (I then sliced the slices in half to make them a bit smaller) Bake for an additional 20 min or until golden brown.

Make sure you sift your flower, I used 5 cups unsifted flour for the first batch and it ruined it by being way too dry and flaky. I couldn't find a sifter, so what I did was start with 3 cups of unsifted flour and gradually added more in as I was kneading it until it was the right consistency. (The dough was perfect when it was to the point where it would stick to itself but not my hands.)

Milo's Mommy, my girls love them too. They seriously go crazy for them, I think I"ll be keeping them 'in stock' from now on. ;)

My boss and his sister bring their dogs into the office in the back, so I took some of them in for their dogs today. His sister thanked me a bunch of times, and then came out half an hour later and said "I just had to come out and tell you the dogs LOVED them". :)

Either tonight or tomorrow, I'll be making some cheese biscuits.

I made a pumpkin flavored one because I didn't have any bananas and there where no nuts. But Ivan seemed to love them anyway. Peewee was a bit skeptical of them, but ate them when he saw Ivan scarfing on them. It will be kind of fun to swap different things out and see what they like the best.

We used to make dog cookies. We would make them small and round. I forgot we even made them. I think I will do a batch today. That is great your other batch came out good.
