Dena ,thats the sad part that would be so hard to deal with. I don't think I would have ever been able to work in a hospital.

It was truly heartbreaking for sure. I'll never forget that precious little boy. The ironic thing also was that my husband was on the grand jury in that case. We were both very torn up about if for a very long time.

Ok, she left an hour ago. When she came in she had just went in her diaper and her mom changed it (she said, oh, i'll change it, so I didn't get to see if there was blood in it). Then she went again and there was blood in it then went again in her diaper and there was not any.
Her mom is saying that the doc thinks it is a yeast infection:confused: Well, if it is, then how the heck could that cause blood in the STOOL not urine? But, the docs said the yeast infection test was nagative...but, its possible she could have one. But, they are thinking its with her urinating so they are thinking along those lines, because she told them she was having trouble urinating and saying it was burning, but thats not the truth. She had burning in her stomach and yes, it hurt and she was crying when she was using the bathroom but not urinating.
She is coming again tommorow, so I'll see how she is.
I will keep you all updated.;)

This child is going to die if she is continually bleeding this way. Do you understand that blood in the stools is a potentially life threatening sign? The burning, painful urination is a sign of infection or injury....something has irritated her urethra and allowed bacteria into her bladder most likely...... either her diahhrea or something more siniser. With yeast, you'd see white stuff coming out if it's progressed and extreme redness/rashiness around the area. Excuse me that I am getting irritated with all this pussy footing around. This child needs to be taken care of and protected. And she needs it NOW! How much blood? Is it bright red or dark and granular? I can't believe that this is going on, day after day and no one is doing anything about it. Just can't believe it. If you're a child, I understand the difficulty for you. Tell another adult, your parents. But something needs to be done asap. It can't go on and on like this.

You really need to do something tomorrow. Take her to the hospital yourself. She needs treatment ASAP.

If her parents are so neglectful, would they even care if you just kept her? I'm not being sarcastic. I know it's most likely not an option for you, but if something like that were going on with a child i knew and was so fond of, I'd be trying to foster her myself.

How old are you? If you need more support, tell your parents. Hell, screw social services, contact the actual POLICE. Get her to a doctor. If you are babysitting a group of kids every day in your home, get papers drawn up and ask ALL the parents to waive their rights in the case of an emergency, so that you can take them to the ER. (This is a good idea just in case you take the kids to the playground and someone falls off the monkey bars or whatever and needs stitches, too.)

Hey,
That is a great idea to keep a journal like some of you said which I will do.
Also, I am going to write up a paper stating "IF something should happen while you child is here, Please sign that we have permission to take them to the doctor or ER, it'll depend whether it is something serious or not.
Being it is Friday I will not be babysitting her again until next week. She has not had a bowel movement yet today, so I don't know if there is blood in it. The mother keeps telling me that she has had a lot of red Koolaide lately and thats what is causing the red stuff and it isn't blood. My mom works in the medical field and said that is NOT possible, it was blood without a doubt, it was very clotty. My mom contacted her uncle and he said that he does not believe there is abuse in the family and he talked to his parents (which is the little girls grandparents) and they were told by her mother that she got her hurt on the trampoline:confused: Well, they have a net around the trampoline, so how would that cause blood in the stool? If she fell, that shouldn't cause bleeding and diarea. There is not anything white in her underware or an evidence of it. But, I am wondering while the mother would not just tell me she got hurt on the trampoline instead of acting clueless and not worried at all. So, it makes me think she just made that up and didn't tell us, because she knows we would know that getting hurt on the trampoline wouldn't cause bleeding in the stool. She did not have a stool culture done at the doctor either! We are calling the doctors office to let them know that she has blood in her stool and they should either tell us to come in or come up with a reason and call the mother and tell her she needs to bring her daughter in. Our friend is a nurse and said that is probably what they'd do. But, we have not seen blood in the stool today yet, but my mom said if we do that we take her to the doc or ER right away then call her mother and tell her to meet us there. Also, the doctors would be suspicous as to why the mother wouldn't tell them about the blood.
I will not let her go untreated. But, what if there is no more blood and she acts fine?
I think her mom for one reason didn't tell them about the blood in the stool, because she knew they might do a lot of costly tests...she'll do anything even if it risks someones life if it is going to save her money.
I think the ONLY reason she even took her to the doctor on Wednesday was because my mom made it VERY clear that she take her immediately...she seemed a little scared.
Will keep you all updated.
Thanks for the advice.

Remember this girl is 12-years-old. She has talked to her mom and the child's uncle. She wants to help but not everyone knows the best way to handle the situation. It's a delicate situation. That being said even if social services aren't called she does need to see a doc right away.

If this poor child is still bleeding internally , the weekend could be tragic . I don't think I could live with myself if I should have reported . I just read Saje's post ...... My mistake !!! Yes, the adults should have stepped up !! This is horrible for a 12 yr.old !!

Thanks Saje.

The authorities for one will not really listen to a minor. Take that from some one with experience. I have tried over and over since i moved out to get them to take my brother from my mom but since i am only 18 and was 17 when i started they would not listen to me. It is up to the adults in this situation to handle this so quit being rude to this poor girl who is doing as muich as she can.

I hope the adults do the right thing. :( Waiting until Monday could be too long! I feel so sorry for both children...

It is our obligation as adult caring for another person to notify social services immediately. They have the power to look out for this child right now. Like Grammy said...the weekend could be tragic.
