So I want to adopt a soldier. I would love it if he was able to write back, but I know that can be really hard. I don't know why, but I've always felt a pull to the military, and whenever I hear a song about a soldier, I tear up. No matter what. And I don't cry in public.

And then I catered for a Marine Ball, and I felt this weird connection, so I figured I might as well do something about it, and I researched, and found out about adopt a solder programs. I'm excited :D This is kinda pointless, but its on Veterans Day, so I figured it would be a good time to post :p

During the Gulf War, I was about 12, I had a solider (well, sailor) pen pal . . .he wrote back. And sent me some patches from the aircraft carrier too . . . so often they do write back.

Although, I have to say, when you said, "adopt a soldier" my first thought was . . . "Is he handsome?"

If someone does know a good program for sending gift boxes, why don't you post it?

I've got a woman on another forum (horse one) that wanted to order Thirty-One Gifts stuff for herself and her battle buddy. Sadly, they don't ship to APO's. Little does she know that I ordered the stuff and will be shipping it to her and her battle buddy. I love surprising people. :)

My best friend's hubby is Army. Many of their close friends just deployed to Afghanistan about 3 weeks ago.

If the other doesn't work out, maybe you'd be interested in "adopting" one of them?

there great programs and even if they dont have time to write back oftern i know one of the greatest joys they do have is getting letters from home. My SO is retired army and always told me mail days was always the happiest day for them all.

Mia I would love that! I just wrote an email to one, so we'll see how that works out. He only gave his email, so he has to write back for me to get his address.

I would love to get a couple guys to adopt, preferably male, because I find them easier to chat with :p I wouldn't be able to send letters to all of them though, because that will get expensive :/

I'm such total crap at writing back to people.

I wonder if they can match people based on interests? If my adopted soldier (hahaha) was into dogs, or into Bradley Cooper I would write everyday. Hmmn...
