I hope so too and remember that you can always put members who harass you on 'ignore' and notify a mod. Hopefully it doesn't happen to often. :(

*puts on Devil's Advocate costume*

Why must all PMs be positive? I always thought that PMs were to air things that people didn't want seen in the public forums. There are some touchy topics that results in nasty arguments. The common response is for other Chazzers to say "take it to PMs."

It's a huge community here. Everyone will not like everyone else. I think PMs are a good way for people to air their grievences without causing chaos in the entire forum, or making other Chazzers choose sides. If you're being slammed privately, you may either refute their comments or just simply ignore them. Then you never have to deal with that person again.

Now, if someone is PMing you just to say truly hateful things about you "just because" or to harrass you, that's completely different. But if someone is bashing/strongly disageeing with something that you posted, I think it's good to be able to air those feelings.

Just for the record, I've never sent anyone a PM to tell them how wrong I think they are. But I can see where those types of PMs would have their place.

By your title I thought you meant PM systems at school or something. When I was in high-school my friends would abuse the PM system at our school on a daily basis :p

Yes people say take it to a pm but a pm, sent just because someone doesn't agree with you or your posy is just wrong, you could pm someone and say I'm not happy what is going on but just pm someone to say you think they are a terrible person and you are blocking their reply is just wrong

Call me a Canuck, but Eh? You lost me, but don't worry it's my perpetual state of being.

Every time I see "PM" I think Prime Minister. Saw "Abuse of the pm system" and all I could think was, "Gee, and that's a surprise?"

I agree with Gempress. I've been told by the MODS before that if I have a problem with someone to use PM not "announce" it to the board. Of course, I never do this, I'd rather put my grievances on the board for all to see and discuss :)

I have had this happen to me from 2 different members. They bash you in PMs. Completely disrespectful! Very childish like.

You get into a disgreement with someone, and they seem somewhat respectful on the public forum, but then they use PMs to tell you how they really feel. They basicaly turn into a monster in the PMs. You get to see their nasty side, or their "real colors".

They say whats on their mind and cuss you out just because its not public.

The pm'ing service of any forum shouldn't be abused. Issues that spin out of control in the board and then turn into a pm'ing war should be reported to the Administrator and Modertators as this is why they are here so that some sort of understanding is made.

People sign up for advice on their dogs and share ther experiences and opinions, some may be valid and everyone does have a right to voice their own opinion whether right or wrong. They shouldn't really turn into something bad as it doesn't really give the forum a very good reputation because im sure that members on here are also signed up to other boards and word can pass around.

Keeping forums happy, tidy and a fun place makes it worth while having :)

if someone says something you don't like in a PM, simply delete it. but it still should NEVER be aired on the forum because it's simply wrong to subject everyone to some of the petty fights people have. if it's constant harrassment, then report it like Saje mentioned. it's not a big problem...you get to choose if you want to read a PM or not.

I just wanted to try and remind members that the pm system isn't a place to harass members, sadly after being on a lot of forums, it seems little groups are formed and so call senior members get away with all sorts, i am not saying this happens here but a lot can be over looked

In the 1.5 years I've been a member, I've never gotten a nasty PM here (though I did get quite a few horrible emails from some anonymous chazzer, shortly after I made my email address public)
I don't send PMs all that often, but when I do send one that could be percieved as "nasty" it is to ask someone about something that I don't want to be discussing in the public forum. Sometimes I suppose it appears confrontational but I ask through PM so they don't have to show the entire forum what they have to say. If I'm debating with somebody and the thread dies, we take it to PM.
If someone were ever to PM me just to attack me, they'd be ignored. End of problem :)

Just lately I had a member take things to email, just so she could get my full name:rolleyes: She thinks she is gonna sue me or something. Its just ridiculous to say the least.

I know. I did'nt expect this from her, but I am not surprised really. People dont know when to stop, and some people like to get into other peoples business. Dont ask me why. Their life must be pretty boring.
