A couple of days ago we said bye to our girl Angel. Money has been extremely tight lately and I NEVER sell adult dogs EVER. But Angel is on the verge of being retired anyways. Jamie and I sat down and talked it over and decided that with the new planned litter and the puppies and trainees we have already taken on we would not be able to give Angel the extra attention she needs once she is retired. I know alot of you may think of me as a bad owner but I have done everything good for Angel. She is a rescue and a great racer and loved so much. I have been crying ever since we said good bye. We decided to sell her so we knew she would go to a good home. We sold her to an older man who was looking for a companion dog. I heart is just hurting so much but I have to keep telling myself this is what is best for Angel.

I now understand why my dad rehomed so many of his retired racers. He did not want to see them pushed to the back to die alone with no real purpose anymore. Atleast now she will live in a warm comfy home where she will get really one on one attention.

Its especially hard because Gremlin the GSD drop off we had months ago recently left us. He was a good dog but we were not used to the over protectiveness and he nipped my niece in the face. We ended up giving Gremlin to one of Jamies close friends who has owned GSDs all his life and knows the breed well.

I really debated on wether or not I wanted to share this and I hope no one thinks less of me because of it. You all I know I love my dogs.

We certainly don't think less of you! I know many breeders offer their retirees out to good homes, for the reasons you described. What you did was best for Angel. (((hugs)))

I'm sorry your feeling down Love4pits. You made a brave decision to sell Angel and by doing so gave her a new friend who will love her for the rest of her life. I think it was very nice of you both to think about her and she will get the one to one attention she need's in her retirement years :).

Awww . . . as always, Pits, you're the absolute best! ((((HUGS)))) What a loving and wonderful gift you've given to your Angel - she gets a second life in yet another loving home, but this time she gets ALL of the attention :)

Now . . . about the attention you've NOT been paying to us . . . ;)

Oh Scarlette it's so good to hear from you! I know it's hard on you to part with Angel but I know you found her a good home and hopefully you can have contact still. (((hugs)))

Aww, I know it was hard, but better for you to think of her in terms of what will make her the happiest now, instead of being one of those who do just let the dogs get shuffled to the back and only remember them when they start to break down.

Tell us what's been going on! We've missed you!!

Oh, you did what was best in your heart. Now Angel has the opportunity to live out her life with someone who also needs her. I bet she's going to be a happy girl with all the attention she will get.
