Blaze is our 6 month old male Dachshund. House breaking was going wonderful. He was pawing at the door to go out and was doing very well. Then on New Years night he had pawed to go out. Just in the middle of him finishing his business our neighbor lights of a report rocket that sounds like a stick of dynamite. Blaze is terrorized and runs in the house where he finishes all his business....shaking behind the sofa. Since that time he has stopped going to the door and has started to mess in the house again. Now when he goes outside if there are any unusual noises or if it might be a bit to windy. He just wants inside where it is safe. What do I need to do to get back on the right track again?

This might take awhile for him to recover. You will have to go outside and maybe even walk him around until he goes. Just ignore him when you are outside, don't make a big deal of it, he will adjust in time.

Our rescue had issues with being outside when we first adopted him. He would not go outside alone, we had to go out with him every time. Eventually he would go outside alone for short periods. It's a year later and he wants to be outside all of the time now.
