Yeah it's the frozen ones. They can expire at late as Sept 2008. Who wants frozen hamburgers that might be frozen that long before they buy them? The food industry is just plain amazingly ugh since the restrictions have been loosened. Less rules equals more profit. Put the fox in charge of the hen house, you get dead chickens.

Upton Sinclair must be rolling over in his grave.

Buckshot i LOVE venison. I good friend gave me some to freeze recently, and I would rather have it than beef. I do hate bison though. I ended up giving most of what I had to Tosca. I don't like the color, the smell, or the toughness. And every time I ate it, I felt kind of off later.

Buckshot i LOVE venison.
I use the term venison loosely to mean deer, elk, antelope or any other cloven hoofed wild critter that doesnt go "oink". I generally make steaks out of the loins and backstraps then jerky everything else. Next weekend is antelope and that should hold me over till deer and elk season. Come on over and bring Tosca, I manage to get a lot of spare parts when the pups are around. I dont know what Buckshot sees in eating elk hide, but he loves it, hair and all. Getting hair in my mouth is very unpleasant to me, do you find it hard to swallow if you have just one hair in your mouth? I dont know how they do it.

Buckshot Tosca would be in heaven. And so would I if I could get my paws on a tenderloin and make it in some wine reduction sauce.

I know about dogs and hair. I have it all over the house right now in blow season. She eats it when I groom her. She never barfs. You don't hear that hacking GAH sound we make when we have a single hair in our throat. I don't get it but hey who am I to complain? Beats vacuuming it.

I have been very tempted to give turkey a go, we have a lot of them out here in the river basins. I bet I saw 60 of them last elk season
Its a lot of work, but a great reward. Giver a go once. Its quite a challenge as you have to call the gobblers in close.

But I am telling you, a well roasted wild turkey is like nothing else!!!

The beverage "Wild Turkey" isn't too bad either in moderation lol. A couple of shots is always the best after harvesting a good buck.
Knowing the fact that a single hamburger patty is made from up to a million different cows if enough to keep me from eating domestic.
Man was meant to eat wild-"Venison the ultimate protien source"...I can't wait to complete the Fall harvest either, yum,yum..

I had an Elk Fillet at a steak house in Park City UT about a month ago. That was great.

When's the cookout, buckshot?

My dad smokes his wild turkey.....it's absolutely DELICIOUS!! A lot of the deer gets ground up and turned into sausage. Of course family is the free help for that process. Nothing like sticking your hand in a bucket of half frozen deer chunks. Oh well, it's delicious in the end!

That is just lovely. I guess you just have to cook the livin' daylights out of it. You know.....venison can have mad cow disease too. Scary.

Cronic wasting disease the same thing? We have test stations for that. It is sad though that we have managed to contaminate our wildlife, even the fish have it, whirling disease.

Veggies and tofu, anyone?
Except for spinach and green onions? I dunno Mom, I don't think the veggie food supply is any more regulated than beef. Not to mention the frozen veggies you find in the case that got here from China, don't ask me how.
