    I need help please

He is 3 years old and adopted from a shelter. We were told he was aggressive but had not bitten anyone and were told that he would take awhile to acclimate.

    I need help please

So a haltie won't work on the biting problem? Only a muzzle? I am contacting others to find a reputable trainer.

    I need help please

I am the newbie who has the aggressive Bichon Frise. Well this morning I'm a little unsettled because he bite a women on the hand. I'm an irresponsible owner who should have put a haltie on him for a few weeks. We got him last Monday and felt he was getting better. We were walking him about...

    Does your dog enjoy it?

Stefan no longer puts up with it for a long time, but luckily we can do 20 minutes a day. Mochi is terribly matted I'm working on him for an 30 minute stretches and he's not loving it but puts up with it. Unfortunately I want to shave him bald but I'm worried he'll fight an inexperienced...

    Free Feeders

All other dogs I've had have been pigs and will eat everything and lick the bowl. Now these two guys eat miniscule amounts and are definitely not overweight without trying. I don't fill up the bowls everyday even and they just eat here and there a few bites. Guess I'll leave it alone. Thanks.

    One Dog Household

Just got our Mochi and I love him lots. I think our baby Stefan was getting a bit spoiled. Depends on the time you have, and for us Stefan actually likes the company because of his anxiety issues and he's alone all day.

    Free Feeders

Does anyone have more than one dog that free feeds? We got a second dog and I think he free feeds as well. We just put some dry stuff in a bowl and they eat when they feel like it. But I'm realizing we may have to switch them to feeding times because if one stops eating we won't be able to...

Dogs & Chocolate & How Much is Deadly

It really depends on the dog, we have a 10 year BF and he ate bars and bars of chocolate. He loves the stuff. He'll eat it and then vomit it up. Sigh, when we first got him we didn't realize he was large enough to reach the table and pull stuff down or could jump on it from the sofa. So he...

    Helping a scared Bichon

I don't know the shelter just said he was returned because the woman owner was afraid of him. I had to laugh because who'd be afraid of a cutie pie? He's quite submissive actually, after dealing with my hubbie's old dog they all seem a dream. I'm checking the yahoo group out. Thanks. I...

    Helping a scared Bichon

Nope, the aggressiveness is more fear and acting out. Mochi could have bitten both male neighbors hands they were holding them out for smelling, but he's just putting on a show. He's was a tried to be a little pushy with us at first, but it was over in a couple of hours. We had a groomer...

Does the popularity or rarity of your breed bother you?

Where we got Mochi, a japanese chin (owner turn in), disgusting. He couldn't go poop because it was so matted and maggots were growing. They shaved him bald and said our guy had mats, but wasn't so bad.

Does the popularity or rarity of your breed bother you?

And then 6 months to a year later they are given up because they take too much time, too much energy and are hard to housebreak. BF are notoriously hard to house break, have an extended puppyhood, and are high energy. But they are "great" with kids, not aggressive so people think, great just...

Does the popularity or rarity of your breed bother you?

I dislike the fact that a breeds popularity causes an increase in puppy mills, I guess because both of my BFs are humongous (18 lbs) and not fat. Just large, big boned, boys. They are great dogs, but ugh. I love the sweet temper of the breed, easy going and fun, but because of it they are...

    Helping a scared Bichon

Hi, we just got our second Bichon, and he's a bit aggressive probably out of fear. When we visited the shelter he ducked and avoided us, then he was okay after an hour. We named him Mochi, he loves our other little guy Stefan. Our issues as that he will lunge and growl at strangers...

    When did 'adoption' become 'rescue'?

I don't know our first was an adoption I guess because he was given up by his family because their kids were allergic (strange he's a Bichon), and our newest Bichon is a rescue because he was dumped in a kill shelter, adopted, then given up to a no kill because of his "aggressive" tendancies.
