    Brown spots on gums?

Kovi has brown on her gums. They have always been that way. Her teeth are very clean, I brush them regularly. Is it normal for dogs to have different colors on their gums or should they be all pink?

    Article on feeding raw?? hmmm.

I guess my problem is that if she did in fact do an 11 year study, where is the data? What were her findings after 11 years that point to a raw diet as a problem? I think the biggest thing is that anyone can write anything on the internet. Doesn't make it reliable and/or true!

    What to do?

Also, you can try Cloudstar (the company that makes buddy biscuits) they make a cream called Buddy Boo Boo skin care. It helps the cut to heal quicker. I've used it on similar cuts and they've healed right up. Still use something antibiotic to prevent infection though! Good luck.

    Frozen Raw + Kibble?

Thanks BuddysParents . . . I'll check it out, I must have missed that! Anyway, I emailed NV and here was their response: Kelly, Many people mix our raw product with kibble; so that the dog gets some enzymes and fresh foods every meal. Kibble consists primarily of meat and grain; our...

    Frozen Raw + Kibble?

Now there's a thought . . . I could do a morning meal of raw and a nightly meal of kibble . . . NV has conversions for feeding kibble supplemented with their medallions, but I think I will check with them anyway . . . I'd still be very interested to hear what others who are more educated...

    Frozen Raw + Kibble?

I've been reading the posts about feeding raw or frozen raw. With the dog food recalls, it's getting scary to feed kibble. I've been feeding Nature's Variety Chicken & Brown Rice since around the time of the initial recall. Yesterday I started thinking about what the benefits and drawbacks...

    Your dogs favorite "Junk Food"

We call Kovi a scavanger . . . but her favorites are french fries and pizza crust . . . she doesn't get much else, but anything she gets she runs away with to go hide and eat it.

    Re-Bath vs. Bathfitters

Yeah, they are both companies that put acrylic tubs and shower surrounds over existing ones . . . I just felt like both were giving their "sales pitch" and I wanted a real opinion.

    Re-Bath vs. Bathfitters

Has anyone used either of these services? We had both in to get estimates and are now trying to decide which product is better . . . any input would be appreciated.

    california natural and purina beneful

We had Kovi on Cal Natural for a while and she had the same problem. I would make two suggestions . . . first, look at the Cal Natural formula, was it chicken or lamb? Kovi didn't do well on the lamb, but when I switched her to chicken based foods, she did great. Also, because of the loose...

    Leaking Anal Glands

I posted about Kovi expressing small amounts of fluid from her anal glands a few days ago. I've come to the conclusion after that post and reading up a bit that her glands are leaking. They have been recently expressed (about a month ago) do they need to be done again? I know this sounds...

Anal Glands? I know this is gross . . .

Leaking? I didn't even know that was possible. Thanks Zoom, I bet that's what's going on!

    Another food recommendation thread.

My dog has a pretty sensitive stomach. She had trouble with California Natural but is now doing great on Nature's Variety. I do a mixture of the dry kibble and the raw and so far she hasn't had any stomach issues (no gas and much better stools)

Anal Glands? I know this is gross . . .

Lately I've noticed a fishy odor sometimes when Kovi is sitting on my lap. She just recently had her anal glands expressed, so I didn't think that was the problem . . . but in the last couple of days, she's been sitting on my lap and I've smelled the smell then I find a wet spot on my pants . ...

Raw / High Quality Feeders... help please

Hi. I just started feeding a high quality food, switching from NutroMax to Nature's Variety. Obviously I don't have any pics yet, but I'll keep this in mind if/when I see any changes!

    Dumb question about Advantix/Frontline

I know you should not give a bath 2 days AFTER applying Advantix or Frontline, but it is also true that you should wait 2 days after a bath to apply it? I know this is dumb, but I forget and couldn't find anything on the packaging!

    Another new food I found . . .

I chose it based upon ingredients in foods that Kovi had done well on before, as well as the lack of ingredients that seemed to bother her. I also liked the fact that it is a "rich" food because she always seems hungry and I think it gave her a more satisfied and full feeling because last night...

    Newbie with question

From someone who has a dog known to get car sick at times, I should say just keep the anxiety level (yours and for your pup) low. I think others will agree that car sickness is often the result of anxiety rather than motion sickness like humans get. Our puppy got sick on her long car ride and...
