    Husk/Wolf mix

After working as a vet tech for 12 years, I've seen plenty of wolf hybrids offered for sale as pets. Trust me, it doesn't work. Wolves are NOT domesticated, and should not be in a family type of situation. They are wild animals, and even if they are mixed with a breed of dog, CANNOT and...

    Defence Dog

German Shepherds are excellent watch and guard dogs. They are suspicious of strangers they haven't been introduced to, yet are the most loyal, devoted breed to their family that I know of. Just get one with a good temperament - not a fear biter, or one that is overly aggressive. The dog needs...

    Golden Cocker Spaniel

Most cockers you run across now days are mean and nasty. When I worked for a vet, the worse biters were Rotts, Akitas, Chows, Shar-peis and Cockers! Very unpredictible. You're so lucky you have a rare, nice one!

    identify this puppy!

Ears are too furry for a GSD. He has the short, blunt nose of a Chow. I'd say he's quite a mixture, but cute as a button for sure!

Doberman Vs German shorthaired pointer. Which breed for my family?

I suspect you'd be happier with a Dobie. GSHPs are too hyper for many people, and from what I've experienced, also can be very destructive. They need the vigorous exercise that only an all-day hunt would provide. Most people I've known who had them say they are too much of a handful for the...

    My new Great Dane pup!

I'm getting a harlequin male great dane on Sept. 6th, and I'm so excited! I've only had one before and that was 29 years ago! I've waited all this time to get another. We also have a Boxer and two Pugs, and they are anxiously awaiting their new brother! Anyway, anyone here have a Dane? If so...

    a long-coat chihuahua or a yorkie???

Research, research, research! Google both breeds and click on all links you can find and read until you can't see any more! Otherwise, you may be disappointed with what you get. A dog is no small decision in life, since a toy breed can easily live for 15-17 years or even longer. Yes, the...

    Brady's other breed in him

I think he's exactly what you were told - Golden Retriever and Lab cross. I see absolutely NO german shepherd or Great Pyrenees at all. He'd be much bigger by now if he had Pyrenees in him. And Chows have that blunt, heavy snout on them - something he definately doesn't have! Randi

    guard dog

As far as Filas go - they are more for the experienced dog owner, as they have to be watched carefully. They can easily have trouble distinguishing friend from foe upon first meeting someone. Same with Neopolitan mastiffs and Cane Corsos. They are naturally very aggressive and could easily...

Can you recommend breeds that are calm?

After working as a vet technician for 12 yrs., I've seen it all! In my opinion, the majority of Labs and Goldens are hyper for most of their lives. Often to the point of bouncing off the walls. Many small breeds are hyper - especially the toys. Of the large breeds, I'd say Great Danes are one...
