    Feeling guilty about not adopting

I don't feel guilty getting a dog from a good breeder either. Especially if you want a breed with certain traits, like working ability and a proven track record of health and temperament- you can't always get those with a rescue. Here's our recent experience with a rescue. A little...

    New Nola Pics

The old man. He turned 11 in Feb. He's still got the mind and attitude that he's 3 years old, but his body isn't quite cooperating. Kinda like my own!

    New Nola Pics

Some more recent pics. She's 14 months now, almost 23", still right at 68lbs, where she's been for the last few months. While her weight has stayed the same she's starting to lean out and muscle up (if that makes sense) Waiting for her turn. Flying high in these 2. Playing with...

Let's See Your Dogs in the Snow!

This was Nola's 1st real snow. We had some little ones last year when she was a pup but nothing significant.

What is the most common thing you say to your dog(s)?

It's gotta be "Who's my girl" or "Who's the good girl" to Nola.

Sports proscpects vs. Liveability: a poll

A lot of people I know who have sport or working dogs (in the bitework/protection sports or police/k9 arena) don't have them in the house, they have really nice outdoor kennels. Super high drive with little to no off switch isn't conducive to an easy going house dog. Can it be done? Sure, I know...

    New Nola Pics

She turned 11 months, here are a few pics. She's 67lbs now, and starting to look a little more "cut". She was laying behind me on the couch, so I got up and moved to the recliner. This is the look I got for moving. 2 minutes later she moved over to the recliner too.

Daily Dog Meals - Raw Feeding

We use the bottom shelf of the fridge for the dog's food, we have a nice big tupperware type tray we use to keep it from being a mess. Whatever we're feeding at the time is stored there. We have a chest freezer in the garage that we have divided in half, between dog and people food. I have a...

    New Nola Pics

Thanks Barb! She really is turning into a great dog. No appetizers at the brewery, they don't serve food, its more of a taproom, but they do have food trucks quite a bit. They also have doggie treats and Nola always gets some to enjoy while I have my beer. I washed her with Dove shampoo...

Daily Dog Meals - Raw Feeding

I do a "variety over time" method. They don't need every nutrient every day. So with our pug, who gets about 9oz a day, I mix it up for him. One day might be a chicken thigh, the next could be ground venison, etc.

    New Nola Pics

just a couple more for now.... This one is doing table training with her, the purpose was to teach her to target the right spot for her bite. Up high like this with her back tied, the decoy can work in close and keep feeding her the target so she learns that's where she's supposed to go every...

    New Nola Pics

Here's a video clip, where shes being sent over some obstacles and then getting her bite. This is probably a 20 yard send. We're using the jump to let her launch into the bite, and now when we send her without the jump, she's jumping high and hitting hard right in the upper bicep where she's...

    New Nola Pics

a few new ones, haven't posted in a while. She'll be 11 months on 12/2 and is right at 68lbs. I've been working on leaning her out some and she's lost most of her puppy chubbiness. She's still doing great on the protection field. One of the decoys says "she hits like a cannonball". We have a...

    New Nola Pics

Thanks! I should have some action pics from training to post soon, one of the club guys did some video and pics of her yesterday. It was her 1st time on the full bite suit and she did awesome! The head trainer gave us the ultimate compliment- he said that Nola is about the best dog he's ever...

Day 6 of raw feeding - disaster

6 days really isn't out of the ordinary for a dog getting used to raw. How much are you feeding? How old and how much does the dog weight? Too much food can prolong issues. It took my Dane about 10 days to get used to it. My American Bulldog still will have some issues from time to time...
