    Kibble Q

I don't feed high-protein kibble at all, puppy or not. Personally, I'm worried about feeding such high protein content in a dry form. I say stick to what has been working for your dogs. If they're doing well on Eagle Pack and/or Fromm, I'd be inclined to continue with it.

    Ethoxyquin

As far as I know, fish meal brought into the US via ship is required by law to be preserved by ethoxyquin. Because the pet food company did not add it themselves, they are not required to disclose that on their ingredients list. There are alternate ways of bringing fish meal in aside from ship...

Food experts I really need your help

Start here: Pancreatitis | B-Naturals.Com Newsletter and here: Onibasu.com :: [K9Nutrition] Re: Nutritional Support for Canine Pancreatitis? I've never dealt with pancreatitis before, but I have used some of Lew's (b-naturals) guidelines when it came to feeding dogs with health issues and...

    Recipes for homecooked food?

I second both the sites that Bailey posted. Lew Olson and Mary Straus really know their stuff and the info and "consultations" are offered for free, whereas many other sites charge a fee. The Cooked Diet section on Lew's site is a great read...

    Indoor Cat?? Advise Please!!!

I wish I had the money to throw litter out and refill on a daily basis. It gets so costly, even when entirely changing out the box at the end of each week. Which litter do you use now? I went through a whole slew of different kinds and types of litter (both clumping and non-clumping) and...

Help me with this cat (confessions from a cat owner)...

I feel your pain. My foster kitty drove me absolutely nuts with her meowing and playfulness at night. You said playing with him doesn't help -- does that include a half hour play right before bedtime? And I mean literally right before you head to bed. That was what finally worked for both the...

    Would you declaw?

I know of cats who simply stopped using their litter box forever after getting declawed. It just hurt them too much to step into substrate. Needless to say, (some of) those very people, who chose to declaw in the first place, then had these kind of problems pop up, and ended up abandoning...

people who dress up their dogs could be prosecuted

That's ridiculous. My Chihuahua shivers and freezes outside in the winter even when she has clothes on. I can't imagine bringing her out naked in that kind of weather. Additionally, she now almost wears a t-shirt 24/7 because she has allergies to dust mites and scratches herself until she...

Cats pooping on living room carpet - help!

How many litter boxes do you have? The general rule of thumb for how many boxes is # of cats + 1. Some cats are picky and will pee in one and poop in the other, refusing to do both in the same box. They can develop odd habits like this.

    Stray Cat Questions

I wouldn't continue feeding dog food for long as cats have different nutrient requirements from dogs, one important factor being more taurine. If this kitty becomes dependent on your dog food source, he/she may not be eating anything else and over time, the lack of taurine and protein can...

I'm so glad I don't have an actual chihuahua!

I love the long haireds - I have one! Interesting you bring that latter point up. My Chi gets snarly whenever I'm holding her and my boyfriend's mom comes up next to me and holds out her hands, wanting to take her from my arms. Do you guys consider this to be a normal way of communicating...

I'm so glad I don't have an actual chihuahua!

Reggin, just wondering - how/in what ways did he express his displeasure when you were holding him and others wanted to pet him? Did any type of training/correction you attempted work or make the issue any better?

    Ringworm

Thanks for your replies. Well, since her itching has been going on for over a year now with fur loss in different areas over time, if it IS ringworm, I would think that it's a pretty severe/tough case of it. I just called the dermatologist - he will prescribe some of that anti-fungal cream...

    Ringworm

Does anyone know if ringworm can cause itching in dogs? The dermatologist said it's highly unlikely and rare, but my dog has been suffering from a "mystery" skin illness that causes constant itching and fur loss, mainly in the face area, that no one can figure out. And I think this may be it...
