Thanks for the very important information.
I work at a doggie daycare/kennel and we require that ALL dogs are rested for 1.5 hours after a meal to prevent bloat and that no dogs are fed an hour before visiting us.
The studies I have read have all showed that raised feeders don't make a...
I was searching the forums for this kind of info and wondering if anyone had any other ideas? My dog tore his ACL and is on 2 weeks of strict rest. He loves the "hide the toys" games and chewie things but I am not sure this will be enough to fend off the crazies.
Thansk so much everyone for all of the advise and help! I was starting to get those "you're a paranoid dog mom" looks from friends...I like to think of myself as a responsible parent!
I am going to check out the new place later today without Dave and will hopefully like it enough to move him...
I totally prefer the reward method, but Davey is way too sassy for that. He doens't bark at everything but rather at other dogs passsing by, of which there are alot.
We have worked with trainers and did the whole "quiet" and rewarding him thing for quiet- he only quiets if he SEES a treat...

Zoom- I am in Chicago. I live in Oak Park but work in Wicker Park/Bucktown. He goes to a place in the loop at the moment. Well, he WAS going.
The vet liked the place I found near us, but we had to wait till the 9...

Wow very interesting. Some of those breeds are the sweetest dogs!
I will say this about Golden's- the one that lives next door broke out of his house a few weeks ago and attacked my dog, who was on a leash going potty a few houses away. My dog had some bad bruises and scrapes to his back leg...
I know some dogs do that when they need their anal glands released. I have only seen my dog do it when he is sick and has tummy trouble.
Maybe try a visit to the groomer to see if you can have the glands checked?
Thanks for the advice- I feel a bit better and less like a paranoid over-protective mommy for wanting to pull him out of there.
Zoom- that is exactly what my vet said, but I thought maybe it was super common. Hearing what you have said I am even more upset and totally convinced there is...
