    The musing thread

The i30 is equivalent to the the Elantra in the USA and Canada. There are probably a few differences due to different emissions/safety regulations and things.

More questions you might not be able to answer... Living costs/budgeting?

It is definitely possible to still get hotels for $30/night on the strip in Vegas! Just... a challenge, and doesn't include any taxes or fees. Expect to pay close to $20/night more than what is advertised, since every single hotel on the strip now charges a mandatory "resort fee", which ranges...

I second this. Even though I really enjoyed Disneyland (never been to Disney World), I really felt like the San Diego Zoo was a much better value. The tickets are 1/2 to 1/3rd of the price of Disneyland, and you can actually see and enjoy the entire Zoo in one day. Also Red Pandas! Giant...

    Meal Planning Websites

Its not a meal-planning website, but I mainly use Pinterest and a meal-planning sheet like this one for meal planning. From my list of pins, I pick whatever looks good/I feel like, has ingredients that readily available, in-season or on-sale in the grocery flyers, and will fit into our schedule...

More questions you might not be able to answer... Living costs/budgeting?

So much learning! I'll admit, most of my experience with diesel engines is in construction machinery. In the spring when its still below freezing they take over an hour to warm up (but the engine itself is also the size of a small car). Emissions legislation for diesel cars in NA were...

More questions you might not be able to answer... Living costs/budgeting?

Diesel engines actually run at a higher temperature than gasoline engines, not lower, which is part of why they burn cleaner. It also makes them more difficult to start in cold weather because diesel requires a higher temperature than gasoline to vaporize (so that it can be ignited in the...

    The musing thread

My choice would be the Lion King, which has so many hidden social issues and literary/cultural references... analysis would either be horribly complicated or a breeze.

Where in the US are you going? It is not as common in North America, but some cities have decent European-style hostels, especially the big tourist centers. Definitely getting a cooler and doing food from a grocery store is a much more affordable (and healthier) option than eating out all...

    broken tooth

Yes. Please get it fixed. Your pup has already been living with a broken tooth for 6+ weeks. If you can't afford to do the root canal, have it extracted. Your dog will be fine.

LOL! I have the same way with my husband! His default action in D&D, regardless of the situation or character class, is "I drink a horn of mead".

    Lactrodectus Bishopi

Cool photos! I'm torn between "That's really cool that your husband keeps spiders" and "Why the heck would anyone want to KEEP spiders!" heh.

What would you do, re: allergies

I would switch to TOTW Pacific Stream and also do the hyposenstization. And also spend every free moment searching for foods without his allergens... but I spend a lot of time looking at dog food anyway. ETA: You might want to look into Natural Balance LID (I checked these three and I...

    Dog Beds

Costco, and Hudson's Bay (but I think they've discontinued their dog line now - its all on clearance).

    For Canadians (and some Americans)

I haven't bought any Timmies in like, a year. Maybe I'm the worst Canadian ever.... but Timmies has just totally bombed for me the last few times. IN the last 3 years, I have never actually gotten a properly toasted bagel (usually burned on the edge, but still cold/doughy around the hole)...

    The dog musing/vent thread

I've had pet store people tell me that it is not possible for a cat to be allergic to fish and also constantly point out that any food that's not listed as "salmon" flavour doesn't have salmon in it. I generally refuse their help now.
