Oh I never said it "couldn't" work, I was just saying I prefer other methods besides the 2x2 and I think a lot depends on the individual dog. Not saying one method is better than the other.
Its funny I guess everyone is different, I taught my Dal 13 years ago using the Weave o' matic and he had great weaves. I taught Dasher mainly with WOM and some channel and his weaves are awesome. Zip is also learning WOM and has progressed very well. If I am consistent I have been able to...
I did not know there was a particular "order". I do it on a per dog situation. For example Zip is learning the weaves, he almost has them down, all straight up but I usually keep the starting 2 poles open to set him up for success to get his entry. Then I noticed would sometimes skip one pole...
Here are the sites I usually shop from:
www.cleanrun.com
www.genuinedoggear.com
www.kvpet.com
www.jbpet.com
I used to shop at Dog.com but I agree with the previous poster, their shipping rates are out of control, so I usually try other sites first.
Both Dasher and Zip get worked up when I say "you ready", b/c they associate that with agility and getting ready to run. I can say "are you ready" to Zip at the start line and he digs in gets ready to run. I don't say that to Dasher b/c we are working on his start line stays and needless to...
Fun thread!
Ok, here is Dasher at 4.5 months...
And Dasher this summer, almost 3 years old...
When we adopted Zip we estimated his age to be a little over a year old. We have had him about 6 months...not much of a change except he has filled out some...here he is at the shelter....
I have a VW Passat Wagon. I really love it. It has never given me any trouble and I can fit two crates in the back and leave the entire back seat for gear. It also gets pretty good gas mileage. We also have a Dodge Durango for towing but I rarely take that car to trials b/c it is a gas...
I have never done CPE so I am not familiar with CPE rules, but the best place to read up on the rules for USDAA is their website. http://www.usdaa.com/
Jumpers is pretty straight forward, follow the numbers, leave the bars up. :)
Gamblers has 2 parts, an opening and a closing. In the...
Leonbergers are cool dogs. There is a guy in my agility class that has 2. We have taken classes with them for about 2.5 years. They are like big bears. :p I will say they are a bit aloof as I believe they use Leonbergers as guard type dogs. Dasher used to play with them when they were...
Hmm...ok, I am sure there are tons, but I'll stick to only the one I teach my guys:
sit
stay
ok
down
target
touch
over
weave
walk it
scramble
tire
table
tunnel
chute
teeter
look back
get out
back
spin
go around
dog's name
I think that is all...at least thats all I can...
Dasher is from a breeder - Yes I would get another dog from this breeder. She does not breed often and her dogs are amazing.
Zip is a rescue from my local shelter and Yes I would go that route again.
Lille is from a BYB (almost 14years ago) - Nope would never do that again
You can run your dog in both Performance and Championship in USDAA but not on the same day or even the same trial. Some trials will allow you to compete in both Performance one day of their trial and Champion the next, but most don't. But that being said Performance and Championship are...
Hmm...lets see, I actually have a few goals for the season/winter.
Dasher - I would like to get 2 Grand Prix Q's this season. We already have 2 Steeplechase Q's for this season so we are in the quarter-finals at the USDAA Nationals for 2008 (yay!!) :D But I would like to compete in the...
I would never crate my guys together. They get along fine but in a confined space like that, no way would I take that kind of chance. I can put them in an ex-pen together (supervised), but a crate is a whole different story.
