    Play Dates

My new puppy needs some work on bite inhibition. I understand that playing with other vaccinated dogs is her best bet. She'll get her first shot tomorrow and won't be done for 12 weeks. How do you suggest I find healthy play dates for her? We are slowly introducing her to Corky, our Pitty...

    Lots of pee

I am not concerned that she has accidents. I am concerned about the fact that she peed three times in rapid succession.

    Lots of pee

I do not scold her for accidents. She is too young to be scolded. I will say NO! when she squats in an inappropriate spot, though. Sometimes she will whimper when she needs to go out, especially if she is penned in the bathroom. This time she whimpered *as* she woke up. Then she peed.

    Lots of pee

My brand-new, seven-week-old puppy just urinated three times in about a minute. She was sleeping, whimpered, and peed next to her bed. I immediately took her outside -- I may have interrupted the first pee with my "NO!" -- and she peed two more times. Does this seem normal or excessive?

No interest in eating from the bowl?

You could try putting the food into a Kong, treat ball or hollow bone with a dab of peanut butter on the end. Another idea is to put some canned tuna or salmon on top of the kibble in her food dish. Sometimes stinky food is better. Do you feed kibble or stinky canned food?

    Eczema Around Eyes in Winter

Here we go again... Last winter we used petrolium jelly around Corky's eyes. There must be something better? He gets red, raw, cracked and itchy. Poor guy.

    Dementia in Dogs?

I think Sam, my 11-year-old Kees, may be suffering dementia. He's not socializing with the family or his 12-year-old girlfriend anymore. He only wants to be outside. He barks at the door every morning at 6 am -- even on weekends *groan* -- to be fed and after the food is gone he does it again...

help my dogs are attacking the older dog

I have an old Kees who has a tumor and is going senile. His also-old girlfriend and our new, younger dog gang up on the Kees all the time. We rotate the dogs so the old timer can live his last months in peace.

    Digging while Socializing

We've been working really hard at socializing Corky with groups of people. Large groups overwhelm him, but we've had a lot of success with small groups of half a dozen or so at our home and larger groups in big spaces. This weekend we had company for a bbq and he was a perfect prince. The...

    Dog Tag Idea

Our older dogs are 12 years old. We live in a cul-de-sac and all the neighbourhood kids play street hockey in front of our house. They help themselves to nets stored just inside our gate. Get the picture? Over 12 years we've had to go get the dogs a handful of times. Our possible pit bull...

    Dog Tag Idea

In addition to city tags, our dogs have tags engraved with our address and our cell phone number. Its not uncommon for people to call us and say, "we found your dogs and put them back in your yard," or "come and get your dogs and we won't call the pound." This simple trick has saved us many...

Rescue -- Just Not Into It?

I think that critter needs to be rescued and adopted.

I think you should get points just for studying moral philosophy. :hail:

    A Breeders Thoughts

I am a breeder (of cats) and I do use the word "adopt" because these animals are not strictly "for sale". I do not profit in any way -- I loose cash to this very expensive hobby -- and getting one of my babies is a process. Merely flashing cash will not get you one. By using the word "adopt" I...
