    Chasing (and catching) their tail

Thanks Aussie Red Thanks everybody - Aussie Red was what I was wondering about...it seemed like I'd heard it could be a nervous issue...this is our scaredy-dog. So it makes sense. The other thing we're wondering is if he's just hitting it so hard on something it keeps opening it back up...

    Chasing (and catching) their tail

:( Ok, so twice now my dog has caught his tail and bit it hard. I figured it would only happen once - but this time he bit it so bad it bled for a long time. He didn't seem bothered by it at all (we kept wagging his tail and blood was splattering all over - ahhh!). Is he going crazy or...

    How many times to feed?

I have the same question! I logged in today to see how often I should feed our 4 month old 40 pound puppies! We fill their dish 3 times a day and what's left just stays out until the next meal (Science Diet puppy chow). I know the vet can answer this...but I wondered what's normal. The...

    When to separate boy/girl puppies

Thanks guys, we just went to the vet today and because they're large breeds the vet wants to spay/neuter at 5 months (our guy has to get neutered at 4 months because of a pretty bad umblicial hernia). OK - I must know your secret - crate trained at 8 weeks? Housebroken too? or just crate...

    When to separate boy/girl puppies

Quick question - I have a boy and girl 11 week old pups that won't be spayed/neutered until they are 4 - 6 months. When do I need to separate them to be sure they can't breed? It may sound early to some of you...but their mom (a stray) had them at 10 months so we're not taking any chances!

I've been wrapping all evening..just decided to stop (when my husband and the dog took over my wrapping space to nap)...I think I bought 5 rolls of wrap and by some miracle I'm still on the first roll and I only have 1 present left to wrap!

    Puppy umbilical hernia surgery question

It would be wonderful if these healed on their own!!! Each of the puppies and the mama are being spayed/neutered. I wanted to make sure their new families had an idea of the cost and this gives me another reason to make sure they follow through. Thanks again.

    Puppy umbilical hernia surgery question

Thanks everybody, I really appreciate everyone's help! - we'll definetely do it - I just wasn't sure if it would be hundreds of dollars so I could plan for something like that. This is what it looks like - it's basically an "out-ty" belly button - but apparently the intestines can get...

    Puppy umbilical hernia surgery question

This is one of our 7 week old pups. Three of them actually have it, but only one has it bad enough to need surgery. The vet didn't say much about it - I asked if it could have been prevented and he said this type of hernia is usually hereditary and the pups with it shouldn't be bred, nor the...

    Episiotomies & Waterbirths

Oh, and there are websites out there - mostly about home birth - that talk a lot about water birth...I know they helped me get over my fears (and I had lots of fears!)

    Episiotomies & Waterbirths

If you go to a hospital with a midwife that assists the doctor, they are more likely to try to prevent needing an episiotomy, but I think joce is right - you don't really have a choice...and I don't think that's the biggest thing on your mind at that point.
