I'm bored as heck at work today, so I'd like some input on a raffle basket I'm putting together.

There is an annual regional specialty for the ACDs at the big cluster show we attend in the spring. They are doing a raffle this year to help raise money for next year.

I'm putting together a small basket and just want to brainstorm what to put in other than treats!

Let me know what you think! I'd love at least one breed specific gift. The Facebook group "Not to Standard" has a hilarious ACD mug that I think I may get for it. But I'm open to other ideas!

I immediately thought of collars and leashes, but you could also put in things like Nylabones/chews/antlers that a lot of dogs tend to like.

I just helped put together a raffle basket for the NW Pet Fair for the rescue I volunteer for, and it was *really* difficult to figure something out that would be useful and fun for the majority of dog owners. We ended up putting in a sweatshirt with our logo on it, 2 antlers, a Nylabone, 2 collars (different sizes), one of those JW rubber toys with the crinkly plastic in the middle, and a pair of nail clippers. The nail clippers actually ended up being a big hit and were the reason why a lot of people entered the raffle.

Interesting note about the nail clippers! That is a cool idea! I also like the idea of longer term chews.

Gift cards or coupons to local dog businesses which are readily donated to raffles! Grooming places, boutiques, day care, feed stores, etc.

That is a thing?! People will donate for a raffle?!
Oh hell yeah. Especially if you tell them it's a at least a decent sized event and their name will be on whatever you put in it. They donate some stuff and are out a little money, but it brings in all kinds of business. I would definitely ask some local places.

I think you already have great ideas but I'm another vote for gift cards/coupons to local dog places. I also love the "Not To Standard" mug. Those drawings are hilarious.

I also saw this awhile ago and thought it was hilarious. They have one with sheep too.

Yes!!! That's where most of the stuff in raffles/Chinese auctions come from! It's awesome advertising! and if you give a gift card or something, especially if it doesn't cover the cost of much or is for a free trial, people will definitely spend more at a business.

At the salon where I worked, we'd give a bath gift certificate, but most people want their dog's hair cut, too. Even if they're loyal someplace else, they'll come in with the certificate, and we likely made $30-$40 off of it. If they like us, they're gonna come back. Same with boarding place...if you give a certificate for a free night, most people are going away for more than one night.

I donated, not for a raffle, but for an auction for a local rescue group a few years ago. I gave them a handful of prints to auction off and they also auctioned off a custom portrait. Ask around for sure.

As to the original question - poop bags. Always poop bags.

I'm so, so glad you guys told me about donations! Not to Standard donated the mug. A local grooming shop donated a small basket. I'm going to a local pet store today to see if they are interested in donating poop bags, chews, or treats.

Huzzah! This is awesome. :)

That is so cool! Good luck! And it's nice to be able to be aware of and support local small businesses! This will be great advertising for them!
