Wait we aren't allowed to get derailed anymore?! Some of my fave threads were ones that got completely derailed.
Dekka, I think you know it's not about 'derailing' When I ask you (general you *salute*) to get back on topic, what I'm actually saying is stop the off topic bickering and/or stop the gang attack and/or stop instigating junk.

And yes, some of my favorite threads have gone off the rails too, but in a good, fun, educational, or all of the above, kind of way :)

EDIT: I read post after post of rude/nasty comments. Not finger pointing, it came from more than one side/member....but I think it's far enough and it isn't even bickering about the thread topic, LOL At least if it was bickering about sex I might learn something! haha

I was talking about this with my husband earlier, unfortunately within earshot of my 84 year old father, who felt the need to respond "The older we've gotten, the more we bang. Viagra is great!"

Thanks, dad. Thanks.

Dude, I worked in a nursing home once. Age does NOT stop people. If anything they don't even care anymore about getting caught or whatever because of their age. We had to knock on people's room doors for good reason.

Also, you have no idea the VD that goes around in those places. *shudders*

Spoiler Alert:

Any thread concerning babies, sex, children, personal life choices, or a combination of the above predictably has the following structure:

~3-4 pages of people actually answering the intended topic
10+ pages of the same argument <EDIT>
A sprinkling of posts on the actual topic from people who either haven't noticed the derail or are pointedly ignoring it
<EDIT>
Failed calls to return to the OT.

<EDIT>

My Grandmother, who is now 83, is living in an assisted living facility where she has her own apartment. She has been a widow for a decade, and is apparently quite the kitten of the facility. The last time we spoke, I had this conversation.

Her: And Harrison and I are dating, but I'm keeping my options open.
Me: That's nice Grandma
Her: John is a gentleman, too. He takes me for rides on his rascal.
Me, secretly praying that 'rascal rides' are exactly what they sound like, and not a euphemism. "That sounds like fun."
Her: It is. And we have SEX!
Me: Thanks, Grandma.
