I know, it's winter and only the beginning of winter, but I want summer to come back! As a way to force memories of summer to come back, what are your favorite places to go on vacation? Pictures of happy, summer time?

I really liked Cozumel, Bahamas, and Cayman Islands, and Hawaii. Or just going to cabins.

Places I would like to visit:
Bora bora and the Great Barrier Reef.

Sadly, I'm more of a home body myself and just like to be around the dogs. So when I do go on vacation I don't like going for very long.

I love the keys and doing road trips out west and just kinda seeing where you end up. Eating at different Mexican places. I swear I have had some of the best food just randomly stopping at hole in the wall type places( probably how I'll die. Food poisoning).

But because of farm stuff we usually go on three day small trips now four wheeling generally. Love love love Wayne national forest. That is basically hocking hills in southern ohio. Beautiful and I love the small towns down there.

I love Lake Erie to. Huron is a beautiful small town with a couple great little resteraunts. We are talking about getting another boat in a few years. My pics from the old one are on the old phone. I do miss it. Perfect summer evenings out in the lake. Blitz even liked it. Day trips are more my speed!

My favorite mountain/wilderness area:

Yellowstone/Grand Tetons

I also enjoyed Alaska (Kenai especially) but saw more wildlife overall in Wyoming.

Favorite beach vacation: Hawaii! I've only been to Maui but I can't remember which island my dad said was even prettier- either Kuai or Hawaii.... But Maui was definitely the prettiest beaches I'd seen.Whale watching, beach bumming, snorkeling. All great.

For Caribbean, St Barts was always prettiest to me but St Martin is amazing as well. I was surprised I liked Hawaii better but I did.

Favorite historical city vacation: Probably Italy? Florence was my favorite stop in Italy but Rome has the Coliseum, etc. 2nd would be Paris for the art museums. Such great art museums <3 Pompeii is neat too! It's like traveling back in time.

Most overlooked place: Switzerland! It's GORGEOUS and I definitely recommend Lucerne. It's on a lake + the Alps.

Only had yellowstone photos on this computer :( Yellowstone was my all time favorite vacation though. It is AMAZING. Highly recommend.

I will totally second the Outer Banks. We went this year for our first *real* vacation as a couple and it was AWESOME.

We're taking a trip to Charleston, SC this spring that I hope will be just as great. :)

I'm badly looking for kid-friendly places for this Summer so I'll be stalking this thread... There's a lot I want to see, but not so much that the kids will really enjoy (and I go crazy if I stay at the beach longer than 3 hours).

Well, on the island where we stay (Bogue Island, town of Emerald Isle), there are miniature golf places, some of which include bumper boats and go carts, jet ski rentals, and a pre-Civil War fort at one end. There's also the N.C. Aquarium on the island. The Maritime Museum in nearby Beaufort has artifacts from Blackbeard's ship, the Queen Anne's Revenge, (they found the ship about 100 yards into Bogue Inlet and are still recovering stuff). Beaufort is the place to take boat trips to Cape Lookout (lighthouse on the island) and Shackleford Island (to see the wild ponies), dolphin watches (there's a 'creek' where dolphins have their babies in the spring), and ghost walks (Blackbeard's house is still standing and is still occupied). Beaufort is also the home of the only registered pirate in the U.S.

I have some fond memories of Wayne National Forest. Back when my husband was going to school at OSU in Columbus, we did a day trip down to Marrietta and then drove through Wayne National Forest to see the covered bridges. That's where my husband proposed.

So hard to answer! Um , the world?

I've never actually NOT liked a place I've visited (though I'm not a fan of Paris, oops). I love seeing different culturs and landscapes. Anywhere I can go on a mountian. :p

Some of my favorits though were:

Nova Scotia - I LOVED it there. It was so beautiful!

Maui. Speaks for itself. Wow.

Gran Canary Island - beautiful as well. :)

Costa de Azahar in Spain, totally not touristy like the other costal areas and so beautiful. You have the ocean, but also mountians.

There are many more places though... :)

We are looking into road tripping to Sweden next September with Zora.. I'm sooo excited! I've been wanting to go forever.

Some of you all are so well traveled!! Wow!

Key West was a favorite spot for me! I loved the laid back vibe and art galleries and stuff. The beaches were nothing special.

I actually love to just go out east Long Island or stay in NYC a few days.

As a kid, the poconos were great, but my grandparents had a bungalow on the lake there. I'd love to go back, though.

I haven't traveled much.

My favorite thus far has been Havana, Cuba. The resort part was pretty fun too, but honestly our stay in Havana was my favourite part. I want to go back and spend a week in Havana. The beauty of the architecture and the creativity and art surrounding you, and of course the friendliness of the people is incredible. I felt incredibly relaxed coming home.

Sanibel Island, Florida

It's gulf coast, totally laid back, has amazing sea shell collecting (some of the best in the world) and huge birds all over the place. Pelicans just hanging out on the beach like, yo.

We went when I was 8, so it's been a long time, but I loved Grand Cayman. I would love to go back someday.

I love Vermont, too, especially Brattleboro. Not really a "vacation spot" but I love it there.

I don't travel much. It's due to financial constraints, and more recently, anxiety.
