I usually don't like Labradors-Aesthetically speaking, but...

They're having a litter on their grounds soon,& I'd love to have from this litter. Sadly, their all the way in Europe.

I always thought I didn't like the look of labs, coming from an animal shelter background and having random labs growing up. Then I was introduced to the world of well bred labs and I think they're gorgeous. They aren't the right dog for me, but I love the look of a well bred black lab.

Today is one of those Hank days.

1. I was raking leaves. Made a big pile. Hank squatted and peed in them before I got them bagged.

2. Hank ate through his tie out while in the front yard.

3. I have a blood blister on my forearm from doing his nails. He just pinches and does not let go.

Thank you for letting me vent for a second. I'm sure he'll go back to being his normal wonderful self soon... hopefully.

If it makes you feel better, Hank sounds a LOT like Hugo when he was 5 months. He definitely ate through 1 tie and 1 leash and 1 harness (dude has scissor teeth, I swear), never truly settled in the house, had crazy zoomies for 15 minutes at 8:30 EVERY. NIGHT. And basically needed to sprint for an hour before he would even consider sleeping through the night. He's ten months old now and is 100000% better at settling down in the house and has yet to eat through anything in over a month, lol.

Except Hank is probably 12 months this month (if the shelter is correct). We're getting through it. Overall he's actually much easier than I imagined he'd be but there are some challenges here and there. Need to get a handle on this nail clipping thing especially.

I still can't believe he ate through his tie out! He must've done it in just a couple snaps because I didn't even see him bite at it. But it was definitely all slobbery and chewed through when he came bounding up to me with half a tie out line attached to him.

I was standing right next to the dude when he ate through his, so I wouldn't be surprised if he could snap through it pretty quickly if motivated.

aanndd... I still can't clip Hugo's nails by myself, lol. He screams and claws and I definitely just pay daycare 5 bucks to dremel them every other week. They swear he's not that bad but he's a monster when I try to do it.

For nails, I make it a game for the ACD's.

I trained Tulsa with a frozen Kong. All of my dogs lie on their backs and it takes me about 5 minutes/dog.

Took an extra dog (strong, reactive, untrained Golden) on our hike today. In the commotion of getting out of the car and ready to go, I accidentally slammed Rigby's tail in the door :(

She was stuck there for a good 25 seconds at least while I dug my keys out of my pocket - of course they were at the bottom and buried - and frantically clicked the unlock button.

As soon as she was freed she wrapped her paws around me and trembled. I felt so freaking bad :(

Thankfully she's okay. Still has a fully functioning tail and doesn't seem to be too sensitive

I have 5 dogs in my house right now. 4 paps, 1 Hank. 2/4 paps are drugged post dental. Dad couldn't get to pick them up so I'm watching them a couple hours. Poor Beau is drunk off his rocker.

Also, toy dog teeth suck. Surprisingly Rose only lost 4 teeth but Beau lost most of his. :( Summer lost 9 last year, Nard lost like 12 or something and I looked in Mia's mouth and she has 3 chipped front teeth! 3!!! So looks like Mia may be next in line for teeth issues though she was born without a lot of her teeth.

And I've TRIED to stay on top of my two's teeth. Yeah...

Hank's mouth is gorgeous comparatively. All nicely spaced and pearly white.

Mums pugs have like no teeth left. Ruby (11?) has three and Chai (8) has like 5 or so. Iz however has nice white teeth with very little tartar buildup at 6 and a half years old. But she's not really a Pug... She's an Izzieâ„¢

You know those pictures of entire litters lined up together?

Lol.

Nope.

Wait, I only count eight...

Hold still!

Close enough.
Photoshop, lol. Or wait till they're all sleeping, line them up and then take pics. SO DARN CUTE

Anyways, Roxie let me dremel a nail today!! :D I got the dremel out, and right away she was like, "OH TREAT TIME!!!" lol. And then I got a whole nail and half a nail before I decided to call it quits. She was doing great, but I didn't wanna overdo it.

Today I was warned at the park (while walking Hank) by a guy that Australian shepherds have a lot of energy and need to live on farms.

He knows because he had a blue heeler once and they had to give him to a farm.

But he very clearly thought they were two different breeds the way he stated it. So I have NO idea why he thought Hank was an Aussie.

:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Also Hank rocked agility class.
