Puppies, Puppies, Puppies! It's that time of year again, where I [know] a lot of people are going to get a puppy. Which just really makes me want a dog even more.

Why can't 2018/2019 come faster?

Puppy breath.

Wrinkly faces and widdle bitty ears.
Awww<3 I think I'm in love!

Summer had another seizure. :( We went for a 3 mile walk and then on the way back in the car it must have happened because when I got home she couldn't walk. It was literally a minute drive across the street.

I'm getting super worried about her. :(
So sorry Laur.:( Good vibes coming your way.

Beautiful British Columbia!!
dffj Panzer is going through a fear period. He has not gone through one in a long while, so I am hoping this one will be the last. Darn slow maturing breeds.

The oven fan is now scary and causes him to stress out and we came home late last weekend while it was snow storming something fierce and he had a scared freak out. It took him a while to realize who we where. Totally not his character. So hopefully it passes soon. Like tomorrow ha ha

I just want my confident puppy back.

Dear lord help me! I am dogsitting one of Fable's puppies AND my former foster dog (I was told about both the jobs very last minute). Athena the puppy has a bladder leaking problem so she can only be in one room in the house or in her ex-pen. Kaya is severely reactive, and she cannot be around Fable or Athena in the house. She also cannot go on a walk with Athena, but she can with Fable. Kaya is staying at her house during the day (I let her out for potty breaks), and I bring her to mine at night and put her in a kennel in a separate room. Athena and Kaya both pull like freight trains on leash, and every time Athena hears the smallest noise outside, she starts barking. And Kaya will basically try and kill a strange dog if she sees while out on a walk. On top of all that, I still have to keep Fable and the cat separated. These dogs are all maniacs!! I cannot wait until Sunday evening when Kaya's owner gets back. Fable and Athena by themselves are fairly easy. I think if Kaya wasn't such a spazzy freak then my life would be much easier. I still cannot understand why I love that dog so much and seriously considered adopting her.

I bought a copy of Ski Spot Run, but stopped reading it because it was too depressing. "Snow safety, snow technique, snow, snow, snow SNOWSNOWSNOWSNOW!"

Short of picking up my entire life and moving to a completely different part of the country, I will never have snow. Ever. I know there's some good information in there about joring in general, but mostly the book is just taunting me for living on the coast.

I would have to argue that dryland mushing is just as awesome as their snow counterparts. And you are warm. ;)

Fair enough. I've never tried it, partly because I don't have a mushable dog and partly because the only trails around here are either wide and flat but short and crowded, or long and empty but steep and rocky. Everything flat has been built on, and I'm not thrilled with the idea of mushing on the street.

When some people talk about how much exercise their herding breeds need I don't know if they're trying to be scary...or it's really 3 hours of intensity every single day @_@ I mean I know some dogs are up there but I'm trying to imagine biking or fetching or advanced training for more than an hour daily, being an average person who would be working and fulfilling other hobbies as well. What I read or am told gets to be rather intimidating or discouraging sometimes.

I think people exaggerate exercise needs. Cajun is really high energy, and Juno was too when she was younger... and while I exercise them more than the "average" person probably would, it's certainly nothing outrageous. I work full time, I put in 11 hour days, it's fine. ;)
