Ahhh... where to start?

Whippet
Saluki
Borzoi
Italian greyhound

At least those are in the right group.

Doberman
Weimaraner
Great Dane
German Shepherd

I'm sure I'm missing a few.

I can understand whippet as it is primarily a question of size. But otherwise... I mean come on, they're on the side of a freaking bus!

Dance is usually, ironically, an Aussie haha. Or a Golden mix, doodle or Border Collie mix. Or a "dock troller". Lots of people do know what she is now though and think they need one. Makes me sad lol. I miss the days that Tollers weren't known.
I literally almost spit my Starbucks onto my mac at "dock troller". I'm thinking the Billy Goats Gruff...

Border collie. Always border collie. I do not get it. I could understand if I had tris or a bi-black. But no... always border collie.

Auggie at least got "baby collie" a time or two... I've never gotten that with Payton or Georgie. (Pepper of course is the hermit who doesn't go out in public.)

But other than that ALWAYS border collie.

Simple really - Border Collies are a more popular "buzz" breed these days. You have to hear about it ALL the time. The Rough Collies really seem to be less common now.

Personally - Based on looks alone - give me a Rough Collie any day. :D

When Siri was a baby she got rat terrier and fox terrier WAY WAY more than JRT. Nobody thought she looked like a jack. Now most people think she looks like a Jack, but they always comment on her size (most JRT around here are like 25#, and she is only 10#).

Most people recognize Frodo for a corgi, though the second most common guess is Pomeranian  Once someone thought he was a fox.

We get at least 50% various wrong guesses. "Pom-Chi"?, "Shih Tzu"?, "Long Haired Chi"?, etc.

The next 30% shoot you a puzzled look, then ask. :)

The last 20% go right to it and say "Papillon"! :D

Xena is brindle, so naturally she's a pit bull

I've also gotten "Dingo" and "Hyena"

Nero has gotten greyhound and ridgeback, Ripley gets boxer a lot and I was once told all the dogs were beautiful boxers. Jersey is a pit puppy-she's 9 years old.

Ripley left, Jersey right

I would say the most common guess for Abrams is Labradoodle. Then Labrador. Then Chesapeake.

The amount of people who think he's a Labradoodle is quite astounding, actually.

What really made me laugh the other day was when one if Michael's buddies was over, and he was asking me what Abrams was, and where I got him. He said he first heard about Chesapeakes watching a dog show on TV and then did some research and, "That seemed like my kind of Lab, right there." Um. Okay. :rofl1: I'm only assuming every retrieving breed is an off shoot of a Labrador in his mind.

No body guessed with Cynder, and my Lab/Spaniel mix seems to satisfy them.

There was a stretch when Caleb was a puppy that I was (understandably) often asked if he was a Golden Retriever. But the absolute best was when Caleb was 3. I teenage boy told me he had a Pit bull at home that looked exactly like mine. Mostly, tho, I hear how small he is, followed by the 90+ pound Lab either they have at home, or know.

Smalls is just perpetually a puppy. Or people want to know what breed she is and where I got her. Shambles is a Pit, though a guy at work said there must be some Akita in him which is the weirdest guess thus far. Elkhounds aren't really common around here, so most people ask if Jack is a Husky or GSD, or a mix of the two.

Strangely Meg constantly gets Greyhound, I think because of the coloring. I always wonder if people are just trying to be "politically correct" and not call her a pit bull, so they go with the only other brindle thing they can think of. For my 37 lb, 18" dog. Only one person has ever come out and asked if she's a Mountain Cur, and I almost fainted.

Gusto gets Boston Terrier all the time, which doesn't entirely shock me. And I'd be willing to concede that it may be his terrier half. If we are at dog events, it's "Is he a border jack?".

Walter is my Bernese Mountain Dog puppy or a border collie. Or if they know he's an Aussie they think he's a girl. He doesn't care, as long as they pet him.

Gambit: Aussie, Catahoula, Koolie, or wolfdog. Every once in a while, someone looks at him and immediately says coydog

Gimmick: Border collie, whippet mix, borderwhippet, Saluki, greyhound

Everyone pegs Quid as a Pei mix

Oh god.

Skye (Pointer X)- Umm...Greyhound, Dalmatian, Weimeraner, Vizsla. Sometimes people are like "THAT'S A MCCOY HOUND" oddly specific hunting line dogs. A lot of times people are like "THAT IS ABSOLUTELY 100% A DALMATIAN MIX". Or she is definitely a field bred English Pointer. Oh and I get Pit Bull too.. on a quiet walk a guy asks "Why don't you put a muzzle on your fing pit bull".

Zoie- No one really knows, mostly people think "blue heeler" mix especially if she is with the red ones. Someone asked if Romeo and her were siblings.

Romeo- People think he is cattle dog mix, or maybe GSD mix. I don't get too many people telling me what he is, they just ask.

Fiona- Dingo. Australian Shepherd. Fox. Blue Heeler.
