I've moved across the country twice in the last year, currently live with my family and SO, drive a gorgeous '07 Chevy Equinox that I'm paying for myself, paying insurance for that car myself, have a slow-but-steadily growing savings account, and work full time, mostly from home. I still tend to wig myself out about not being "where I should be" in life, so ease my worries a bit - where were you, and what were you doing at 19?

My birthday is in March. In my 19th year, I was working at a factory on 2nd shift and cutting/splitting wood on the side with Josh, who was my boyfriend. I got into the stuff with my dad and kicked out of my house. Moved out on my own after getting out of town for a few days and Josh's family helped me to get my own vehicle, so I paid that off over the next few months and was basically supporting myself. Was doing an okay job with savings. In October, we decided to move to CO so we started prepping for that. Got married in early December and then lived together for a month in my rental. Moved to CO in early January, which pretty much wiped out all of our moneys. Lived with friends until after I turned 20.

We only had Nub at that time.

I was in my second year of study at the University of Toronto, prepping to study abroad (which I did at 20). Did a bit of travelling in Europe and worked from home. Mostly I focused on my studies. It was a busy but fun year. :)

Working at a dog kennel and delivered pizza, drinking and drugging at night. :p I was dating a 28 year old guy on house arrest at that point too. :rofl1: Yeah I'm serious.

I had just graduated high school, started my first year of college. I worked at a vet clinic part-time during the summer and Christmas break. While at school, I worked in one of the learning centers & mucking horse stalls. I had no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up, or where I wanted to be.

Hmmmmm....

At 19, I was in my sophmore year of college. Living at home, not in a relationship, working part time at the vet clinic as a kennel tech, just trying to get through life.

Very boring, actually. Think it was when I turned 20 things started to get interesting. ;)

YOLO :rofl1:

I made enough money for myself at that point and I was able to maintain my job/s, be there on time everyday. I don't think I was a mess but I was definitely going out drinking nearly every night.
I don't even normally keep alcohol in the house now. I drink socially now, I do have my bingey nights but not like when I was 18-21.

It was the year 2000, at university living in a house in the centre of Liverpool surrounded by bars and derelict houses (now a very trendy Street I might add) with 10 other people, mostly very very very drunk and not going to my lectures :D enjoying myself though. And a year or so away from discovering psytrance and taking a very different social path (a much more recreational one ahem), discovering raves and really partying. But what ultimately led me to meeting my OH (at a rave) and going to Wales a lot (not so legal forest raves). And fact I didn't work at my first degree led me to doing the one I currently have a career in......

So you know. Actually. Being a crazy, hedonistic, recreational using, drinking, partying, youth isn't always a path to total destruction kids :) lol. In fact most of my oldest friends are from those days and are all doing very well in their own rights.

It's funny you mention this as it's been on my mind a lot recently with getting preggo. Reminiscing about past times. You know at 19 I spent about 3 nights a week totally trollied drunk in a rock club lol. Ahhh the journey of self discovery :)

19 is practically a baby in my eyes. I thought I was pretty grown up, but how I've changed!!!!

Still like a party now and then though ;) still drink too much on occasion (obviously not for a long time now!!!).

Doing whatever i wanted in Mexico, animal rescue, dog training, video games and I was engaged to be married. I was very much still a kid, owned nothing to speak of like a vehicle. Didn't drive until i was 24.

Really hadn't needed to grow up until the last couple years.

Um... when I turned 19, I was in my first semester of Vet Tech program at the local College (birthday is in December, so...). A month or two after, I decided the program was not for me, and left, right as my grandmother was going into hospice care at the end of her fight with cancer.

I was just getting serious into ferret rescue, and ferrets in general. I had Rascal at the time, and a few months into 19 got Renegade and Rogue. We also had Rosey.

I was single, living with my parents and, uh... I don't really remember my job :lol-sign: I think I was working at a warehouse?

I had been working 70 plus hours a week for 3 years at that point since I dropped out of High School. I was in the process of buying my first house. But was mostly living on people's couches since I left my home when I was 16.

Taking a year off of everything (no school, random work), just enjoying life. I couldn't see myself going back to that, but I definitely enjoyed it at the time. Gave me a chance to relax with no pressure on me. I focused on music a lot, took music lessons. It was nice. Probably one of the best years of my life.
