I figure Itztli needs his own thread for pics of him growing up, etc.

He's a standard size coated Xoloitzcuintli also known by some as the Mexican Hairless.

These first sets of pics are from when he was 7 weeks old. I drove out to the breeder's house to meet with her and help socialize the puppies.

His head is *gorgeous*. I mean, he's a cute squishy puppy and all, but something about his head is already so grown up and elegant. I can't wait to see him grow up.

I agree :)

He has a gorgeous head and just the most lovely expressive face!

thank you so much guys.

Here's a photo I took with my cellphone yesterday. We had gone out for ice cream and when I saw this table I figured it was perfect as different texture for him to try standing on. He was not phased at all.

I decided to take his ear posts out today since they were starting to bug him. They've been in for 5 days now. Already I'm seeing major improvement with his ears. I hope they stay up and I don't need to post them again, but I probably will have to at least once more. I think he is going to look insanely gorgeous when he is full grown.

Movement shot. His butt is a little buldgy because he was looking for a good spot to poop.

Awww he's already lost so much of that 'puppy pudge' from the 7 week pics. He is going to be soooo handsome. I can't wait to meet him!

Ya he is turning into a handsome little man already. He is very smart and definitely a problem solver. I stuck him in the expen so I could do some packing in the other room. Heard some noises and came back to him at the top of the expen getting ready to jump over. Mind you my expen is either 42" or 48" high I believe since I bought for Joey.

His dad is an escape artist.... Perhaps he takes after him a little bit lol.

He is adorable!

How big will he get. I know his breed is a Mexican hairless, but will he keep this short coat of hair?

Xolos come in three different sizes. He is a standard size which is the largest variety. They can get up to around 60lbs but most standards seem to fall around the 40ish lb range I think. I don't think he is going to end up being super big though so probably around 40-45lbs. He will keep that short coat. One in 5 puppies are typically born coated. His coat is so short it's barely there and I think he will be a minimal shedder.

I'm crossing my fingers. I took his posts out yesterday and his ears are still standing. I'm not going to repost them unless they start to crease again.

Did he eat the blue seal well? Can you use that to get to eat and then slowly wean him off it?

He's super cute BTW. :)
he wouldn't even touch the blue seal that the breeder gave me. He went straight for the pro plan puppy lamb I bought. I've tried offering the Blue seal but he just wont touch it, but he was eating that when he was at the breeder's. But now he is being picky with the pro plan as well. I mix it with canned food and sometimes he will eat and sometimes not. He sometimes prefers his food wet and sometimes he will only eat the kibble dry. Wth? He is gaining weight and he actually does have a shinier coat since he started eating the pro plan, but picky puppy. I'm debating on giving him some cottage cheese in his food to help him put on a little more weight. I don't like super fat puppies, but I also don't like seeing rib cages on pups and you can see his in some of these pics.

If he's gaining weight and otherwise is acting and feeling fine, don't get too into giving him extras in his food. The "picky" eating is likely part stress. He's still new in your home and there's new dogs, smells and people to get used to.

The more you accommodate with extras in his food now, the pickier he may get. My opinion is to let him be picky and I'm sure he will eat his kibble when he's hungry. He's a pup, he'll have chubby phases and ribcage phases.

I had the same problem with Muffin. He was SO thin and He was super picky, only wanted junk, wouldn't put weight on for anything. It was terrible.

After I got him neutered things changed though. LOL. Now he's a vacuum & I have to work to keep him from being a chunky monkey.

What if you poured some meat drippings(bacon, beef, etc) over his food to make it more enticing? I do that for Keeda now and it helps a little. She will still often not eat everything but it gets her to at least eat some.

Oh the picky dogs! Why must they be that way! Hopefully with your guy he grows out of it like Muffin did.
