Using back ups?

I have no need to with my dogs. I have, however in the past. With my Golden foster, I had her on a waist belt attached to a harness and had a martingale collar on with a regular leash. She was an extreme flight risk.
Dani is usually on a martingale collar.
I haven't ever bought a specific attachment for the purpose.

Watson's collar is a limited slip, so he can't back out of it (he does try sometimes). If I clip to the front of his harness, I also clip to the collar. I wish I had an easy way to do the same when I clip to the back of his harness, since he can actually slip that if he tries. He's not a huge flight risk or anything, but he will try to slip things sometimes because he'd rather run amok than do what I want. He slipped his harness the other day while on a tie out, but he came right back when we called. Still freaked me out though. I would need a fairly long attachment thing, but I've considered getting one.

If Roxie's on a prong, I just have a small bit of paracord that runs from the dead ring to her collar. She's never really on a prong anymore though. She can't back out of her Stillwater harness, so no need for a backup...
If I let my sister run her though (I had to last summer, because I had hurt my shoulder) I will have a slip collar connected to the same leash as her normal collar. I only ever let my sister run Roxie on a 1.5 Stillwater though... The slip just gives me more peace of mind.
Roxie wears a Canny Collar in certain places, and with that there is no backup needed- if she slips out of the nose loop, it's just a secure collar and she can't get it over her head.

I don't unless they're in a prong or a halti, but I have a Liberty's Attachment I use as a handle for Logan's harness, and I LOOOVEEEEE it! <3 I've had it for several years now.
When I use the halti is has its own backup attachment, and I use the prong I use a small chain collar slipped around the buckle collar and attached in the leash clip with the prong.

I really need to get Feist a harness she can't wiggle out of or a martingale. She scared the hell out of me the other day, she's going though a fear period and got spooked by someone shoveling snow across the street from us and slipped her collar by a very busy road. Thank goodness for well reinforced recalls.
Hudson did slip out of a Roadie harness once. he was running like a lunatic (as he normally does) and got tangled around a pole. He didn't go very far and we were out there alone.
I generally walk him in either an EZ Dog Chest Plate harness or a Freedom No-Pull and so far he has managed to not slip those. But, he isn't very spooky, so he hasn't really ever tried.

Nola isn't aggressive, reactive, or a flight risk. She can slip pretty much anything that isn't a martingale or Webmaster, but she never flees and has a flawless recall. I'm just paranoid.

If she's on a prong and we're somewhere we might come across a lot of dogs (and therefore might have reactions), I'll attach the prong to her regular collar with a carabiner. It just seems bulky and uncomfortable and I feel like that's a lot of stuff happening on her neck lol which is why I only do it in questionable situations. Her prong has never came undone but the internet tells me they can and do, so I somewhat play it safe.
Otherwise, I've never felt like I needed backup.

When I walked Indy in a prong, yes, I had a libertys attachment or something similar attached to a collar or martingale because Indy can walk right out of leashes. She doesn't slip her collar, but she unbuckles the leash clip some how. I have no idea how.
She wears a Neck Tech now, and it's a limited slip collar, and so far she hasn't walked out of it, so I don't have a backup on her. However, she's now microchipped, and you couldn't pry her away from me if you tried, so I worry a lot less about it than I used to.

Rigby can only get walked on a martingale.

Her neck is thicker than her head, and she's got an uncanny ability to fold her ears back so she can slip a normal collar.
She is fearful in some situations, and reactive the odd time as well. And sometimes she decides that leash walks just aren't for her that day and will stop dead in the middle of the walk, fold her ears and duck her head to get out of the collar. Luckily with the martingale she can no longer do that.
