Shelties are it for me. Honestly, I just love them so much. I have to be careful and picky about it, but I'm careful and picky about most things. I get weird looks selecting APPLES at the grocery store. And that's just something I'm going to slice up and eat within a few days. Nevermind having to pick something living and breathing that's going to be running around for at least a dozen years or more. LOL. So it's not a huge deal really.

But that said, it doesn't mean I won't also have another breed around in the future. I do intend to have a border collie around one day, and there's a few other breeds I want as well. But for those breeds I will probably pick up a rescue though, or it will be a weird case of the right dog just kind of happening on me at the right time. Like I won't really go out seeking a BC breeder. I want a papillon but I really want an oversized active one so a youngish rescue whose size and temperament is already known will be perfect. Those "other" dogs aren't exactly planned dogs other than I know "border collie at some point!"

There's also the event that I could very well meet a guy who likes a different kind of dog, so he will have his dogs/breed and I will have the shelties, so that could happen too. My dream guy has border collies LOL. That is how I get my "border collie at some point." He has border collies and I have shelties, TA-DAAAAA WE ARE HAPPY FAMILY. Also accepting aussies. Or collies. Or generic herding breed mixes. *whistles*

But yeah, as far as "is this the right breed" it's shelties. No need to go elsewhere. I love them.
Except Pepper. Somebody can take Pepper.
(I'm kidding.)
(Usually.)

Terriers 100% no doubt about it. Now I love me some westies, but I think finding a breeder thats not all show might be pretty hard. So I really want to get another type of terrier for our next terrier. I have not decided on what kind bred of terrier yet though. I have a while to decided and Teagan is going to live forever.

Bully's where not for me. I loved Mitsu, but she was not my kind of dog. She was Tyler's dog for sure. They fit well. So I am sure we will own one again, but it will be Tyler's dog.

I've never really NOT owned an APBT, since birth, and I'll probably always have them unless the people in the breed get to be too much. I adore the breed. I simply can't stand that the breed attracts some of the most slimy people, and how collectively backward their ideals and ethics are.

Other than that, I have a laundry list of breeds from pretty much all groups that I would like to own (or have owned) at least one of in my lifetime if possible, because my personality, lifestyle and tastes are so (frustratingly at times) flexible.

I thought I'd found THE breed, but just the sheer fact that I didn't run out and get another one the first chance I could when I was given permission to have another dog of my own, says that maybe they were not quite exactly the one for me in every single way. With that said, I am also the type of person who does enjoy variety and I don't think I could ever have just one breed of dog.

I think I will definitely always have a Toller, but I will be very picky about where my future Tollers come from as I like a specific type of dog. But at the same time, I'm not sure I see myself any longer with more than one Toller at a time. So while I will always have a Toller, chances are it will just be A Toller and not Tollers at once. Probably anyway, guess it'll depend on where I'm at in life and how many dogs I want/am able to have. With that said, Tollers continue to be the only breed that I get super excited to see when out and about and I feel a strong attachment and love for them. So in a way they feel like my breed, but there are a few 'buts' when it comes to them.

I really just want a house full of Journeys for the rest of my life though. I don't know that I love every Aussie, but my Aussie is my ideal dog so far. And now having gotten to hang out with more, I feel like many specimens of the breed are better suited to me in many ways than Tollers are. So while I'm not sure if Aussies are my breed as a whole (because there is a bit of variety temperament and looks wise), there is a certain type of Aussie that is exactly my type and everything I've ever wanted and hoped for in a dog. If that makes sense? It's hard to convey.

I don't think I really answered your question at all haha. Sorry! I feel like Tollers in a sense are my breed, but I couldn't live with just Tollers, so they aren't my breed in an "I love them and this is the only breed I could ever imagine owning" kind of way. I am finding, between my Border Collie mix and my Aussie, that I need to have a herding breed in my life. So my home in the future will probably consist of one Toller and an Aussie or two. Perhaps I'll throw in another herding breed at some point too. But I feel like Aussies and Tollers together fit me perfectly, as strange as that sounds. I don't want just one or the other - I really enjoy having both together. So maybe in a way, they're both my breeds? Or maybe I just will never be the type of person to have just one breed? I dunno. I just know that I really like the two breeds I chose to share my life with, even if the type of dog I like of both breeds is kind of dependent on certain lines/types of dogs within the breeds.

Yup defiantely found my breed of passion in the Berger Blanc Suisse's. I will always have them. We will have a mix or another breed in the house but we will always have our Suisse's. Not sure we will get next but that won't be for a few years so we have time to pick and choose.

Even though he was mixed, Argon was a whippet to the core. He was very nearly perfect for me, and I will have a whippet again within the next few years.

Another medium sighthound like a Silken Windhound seems like it would suit me as well, but I haven't put much research in to breeders yet, so it's up in the air.

Another coy dog? Ummm....no. Gambit is my total heart and soul, but I never want to deal in fear issues like his again. If I had gotten him as a puppy, I feel like a lot of his issues could have been softened, but there's no way of knowing for sure. Plus, it would be nice not to have to tape every button in the house.

I do like a lot of the border collie traits in Gambit, and it's a breed I would like to try. Whippet first, though.

Siberian Huksies. They will always have a place in my home and my heart. It can be stressful at times, but I don't really expect any dog relationship to be completely perfect. I toy around with the idea of getting out of the breed, just because of the sheer amount of bad breeders, rescuers, and politics. But I don't think I ever really will. I just need to find that niche that I can fit into.

I'll probably still have a variety of other breeds and mixes, though. Mastiffs, although we don't necessarily "fit" well, will always be a breed of passion, and maybe a breed of choice again once I settle down more in the next decade or so.

Everything else is in the works, depending on the chance to own one and/or meet many of the breed.

Yeah, boxers are definitely it for me. I still want to try other breeds but then I think... will I really go through with it or just get more boxers instead....

I just don't think I'll ever want to not have a boxer. Molly was incredible and turned me on to the breed... and Juno, some days I think I love her more. She's fantastic.

My next dog is going to be an Australian Shepherd, and hearing about Journey and Merlin has only cemented that in my mind... because I'm going to move to Ontario after I get my undergrad and their breeder is up in that area, I believe.

I love Papillons though, I feel like they're mini Aussies in a way, at least in my experience. Cali is so bouncy and happy all the time, and vocal... to say the very least. She's crazily outgoing, although she is very sensitive with other dogs, excluding Moses. As a puppy, she would run up to any dog, which we learned when she ran full tilt at a Great Dane at four months old... but now she's a bit more conscious with her interactions. Still a fun dog, and loves to romp around. I'll definitely own another some day, without a doubt.

I love border collies, but I can't say for sure I'll always have them, because I haven't had any yet, haha. But I really, really love the ones I meet and really love the breed. That being said, I'm not sure. I'm not the type of person that likes having a lot of dogs, but I do want to have different breeds. Right now, I would think 1 border collie + 1 other breed. I definitely don't want *only* border collies forever. Because pyr sheps and ECS are awesome too, so I must have ALL the breeds.

While I love my dogs, there is so many other different breeds out there I'd love to "try" out. There being said, I would have no problems owning more schnauzers, poodles, or... Charlie's in the future.

I don't really know how to answer. It's really hard for me to say.

There's a lot of breeds that I love, and admire, but I don't really have an interest in owning. Or if I do, I'm not 100%.

Jackson is almost perfect to me (well, he IS perfect for me, but ya know, if I had a choice, of course there's a few things I would change) but I don't really like most Yorkies I meet. I have a definite 'like' for Silky Terriers though. I got somewhat involved in the community, and spoke to a few breeders, etc. I wouldn't turn down a good Silky that would be a good match for us and I definitely always have my eye out for them. I think I would feel safe sticking with what I know.

But I'm really thinking a Border Terrier could be my 'it' breed. Obviously I can't say that yet without owning one. But I'm really hoping I get the chance to soon enough. I can't explain it, but I just keep coming back to them. I think I like them because I still get the smaller size, the non-shedding, the activeness and such, but without so much of the fiesty-ness, or 'sharpness' maybe? and a *bit* more go-lucky but still not 'derp'. lol.

Overall while I'd like to try out other bigger breeds, I know that realistically that's not going to happen for a while. I really like the convenience of smaller and low shedding at the moment. It's just so much easier with traveling, and lots of back and forth, etc, and Jackson is just ... so easy to travel with.

So I think I have a definite type, I tend to connect the best with small terrier-type dogs, as far as when I see them in public, or at dog parks, etc, I always do a double glance and an 'awww' in my head. I also like that they're more rough and tumble than most toy breeds and very much dog. But I have a definite appreciation for a cuddly lap dog as well. I think that will come at a different point in my life though.

This thread makes me want a papillon puppy. I'm not thinking logically when my thoughts are 'My landlord would never be able to tell them apart' lol

I voted for the third choice but I think everyone knows I count purpose bred mixes among the many "breeds" I will own.

I chose the fourth option since I'm pretty certain that "Rescue Dog" will always be my breed. Maybe purebred ones here and there, but rescue. I've hit the jackpot twice, and I'm pretty sure I can keep getting amazing dogs this way.

There are a couple of purebreds I might consider getting from a breeder, or purpose-bred mixes from breeders. There's a BC breeder I'd love to have a dog from some day. I really, really love the border stacks/staffs.

But for the most part, it will be rescues. When the time comes for the next dog to join my life, I'll put out an order with my contacts in rescue, and wait for it to be filled :D
