Who here has either forgotten to pick up their dog's poop or purposely didn't pick it up.
This is a big issue in my apartment complex and I'm just curious to hear what people say.

While I can't recall any time when I didn't pick up after Bunk, I do occasionally toss his poop back towards the community garbage instead of taking it to the garbage and putting it in myself (I only do this at night because the garbage bin is in surrounded by grass and I'm afraid of stepping on poop).

OK pug people, let's have it!

I have been out and forgotten poo bags. Not usually a big deal as I walk in unpopulated areas and Bodhi likes pooing behind bushes, in long grass, behind trees etc - she never poos in public LOL

However, if I AM somewhere public and I forget (I normally have a stash) I will ask people if they have a spare bag.

You know how often people say - meh just leave it, everyone else does? People with KIDS have told me this (I asked if they had a spare nappy bag!!).

I pick it up every time. I always make sure the little poop bag dispenser attached to her leash has bags in it before I go out.

When I lived in an apartment complex, I always picked up poop. There is almost nothing I hated worse than walking through the grass at night stepping on big piles of nasty poop. YUCK.

On walks, I always bring bags to clean up poop with. We have a poop bag dispenser attached to Rory's leash (and the dogs are all walked together so it's shared). Luckily, I've never even seen dog poop on any of the sidewalks in my neighborhood.

I don't pick up the poop in our backyard, though. The dogs are fed raw and it turns white and crumbles within a couple of days.

I'm in a house with a backyard so sometimes I don't pick it up the moment of, but if I don't scoop right away I try to walk the yard later and scoop whatever I find. We work in the yard so often that even though Auggie's poop disintegrates after a few days it's easier to scoop it and dump it than having to watch for still-not-disintegrated poop when I'm setting up jumps or weave poles or whatever...

I've only neglected her poop once. I had only brought two bags on our hike, and she pooped three times. We were over two miles from the road, and she pooped off the trail in the bushes. I still feel a little bad, and now bring more bags than that with me when we hike.

Last week we forgot bags when we walked to the park. When Elsie pooped, I sent my boyfriend back to the house (3 blocks away, not miles) to get bags, and I picked it up. I want dogs to be allowed more places, and one of the biggest reasons they're banned is people not picking up after them. I really don't want to contribute to the problem.

I feel more guilty immortalising her crap in little plastic bags than letting it wash away naturally... I will poop scoop in public places, parks, well walked places etc etc etc, but off the popular path I leave it.

I use biodegradable bags, so I don't feel bad about that.
Yup. Same here. They don't break down as quickly as the poop does, but at least it won't be where someone may step in it.

As a corollary to this thread, it seems that there are others in my neighborhood that don't share my social conscience on poop-picking-up. Gotta watch your step because you may tiptoe through something other than the tulips.

I usually do. I know my sister doesn't. We have somebody that is paid to go around picking it up, anyway, so I don't feel too bad in my neighbourhood atleast

I pick it up, I pick up the neighbor's so I don't have to clean up children's shoes all the time. I use biodegradable bags that the apt complex provides. seriously they do...and still I have only seen a few people use them. What is worse is you can't get to the basket to dispose of because of the amount of dog crap on the ground around it. My dogs won't step on that grass.

The only time has been at the dog park when they were out of bags at the nearest dispenser. By the time I did have a bag, I couldn't for the life of me find the poop.

Otherwise, they never poop on walks so it's not an issue.

This!
Allthough I always pick up,I do wonder what harm her teeny poo will do VS the harm of the bags.I need to find me some eco friendly bags!

ALWAYS.
I hate people who don't pick up their dogs poop in the city.

There are garbage cans/FREE dog poop bags ALL OVER THE PARK/sidewalks and yet.. people seem to not do it.
We share a park with kids, other people, etc.., it's common decency.

I always pick up poop.
It's such a lovely park and NOTHING bothers me as much as seeing lazy people ruin it

So many parks are off limits to dogs and it's easy to see why and who is to blame.

My roomies and I always pick up after miles, except once when he had diarrhea; not gonna try to wipe that off the grass! People in our complex are pretty good about picking up, although I have seen some chihuahua sized poos in the grass before. The management recently left notices in everyone's door reminding everyone to pick up and keep dogs on leashes, or they could be fined $100 if caught. I guess somebody complained about the chi poos. I don't know what the leash thing is about though, I have never seen any dogs off leash here.

Hardly ever. And before you all come at me with pitch forks lol. I walk them in the woods. both offleash. both are far off in the woods. both poop probably 100 feet in to the woods, in tall grass and or bushs. By the time it would take me to walk out there, they would be done and running around again. id never find it. So I dont bother. No one will step in it out there.

But 100% every time if they poop out at a park on leash, at the dog park or walking around town ect. i pick it up. I have poop bags in the car, in every jacket pocket, in all my 30 some odd purses lol.

And I do carrying them on a walk in the woods. JUST in case they poop on the trail, or near the parking lot.

I always pick up. I can't stand stepping in poop. My apartment complex is really strict about it too and I wouldn't want to give them any reason to.change their policy on people owning dogs.

I am almost militant about picking up poop and have even ratted out a couple of my neighbors. I is really frustrating though because we have so much open space in our complex, yet I fear constantly that either me or Bunk will step in poop. There are so many people with dogs in our complex and it is just so frustrating when a few people ruin it for everybody.

When we're hiking, I just use a stick to dig a hole and bury it if it's near the trail. But when I'm in town or in a public place, I always pick it up. I've got poop bags stashed *everywhere* LOL
