What is the widest width you'd go for in a single leather collar for dogs under 6lbs?

More specifically, fluffy dogs under 6lbs with manes.

Chloe's collar is double leather and 3/4", but she weighs 7.5lbs and can barely pull it off.

I'm hesitant to go with 3/4" and think that 1/2" would probably be perfect... but with little Emma I'm leaning towards 3/8" (even though that just seems tiny and there aren't too many options for that width).

Well at 15 pounds 3/4" is perfect for my Tucker, so I'd definitely go smaller than that. But other than that I'm no help lol.

Yeah, I'm definitely thinking that 3/4" is too wide for anything smaller than Chloe sized. Like I said, she can barely pull it off (but I think the width looks great on her). It's tapered to 1/2" which probably helps:

Tucker currently has a 3/8" leather collar that seriously gets lost in his fur... but Chloe's collar looks pretty big on him... not sure if it's just the effect of the double leather or not. So I'll probably stick to 1/2" for Rylie and Tucker. I do think 1/2" is probably too big for Emma :(

With leather, I won't go any thicker than 5/8" for my 16lb boy. But I also keep his hair short and he has kind of a thin neck so I think anything bulkier looks funny on him. His Ella's Lead collar is the PERFECT width at 5/8" for him, IMO. 3/4" would have been too big.

However, when it comes to fabric or nylon collars, I think 3/4" looks best on him so long as the buckles and hardware aren't too big and bulky.

I hate going more than 3/4" on Rumor, so 1/2"? I just don't like wide collars, but I do think the 3/4" looks good on Chloe.

I'm really bad at judging what width is best. I don't like super wide collars as I think they look like neck braces. Some dogs can really pull them off, but none of my dogs have long or elegant necks. Haha.

The widest I'll go on Rory (14" neck and 35lbs) in leather is 1". In cloth and nylon collars he looks fine in 1 1/2 inch, though.

Rylie looks BAD in 3/4". Definitely way too wide for her. I can't even imagine putting 3/4" on Emma so I haven't even tried. She currently has a 3/8" leather collar as well, so I'm guessing that's probably perfect for her. Boo.

Emma's so dainty and delicate. I feel like 3/4" would smother her.

If it makes you feel better, I suck at choosing widths, too. If Rumor had a say, I'm pretty sure she'd prefer to run around naked. :p

Weird enough, Chloe, Rory, and Tucker love wearing collars and get excited about them.

Rylie runs away when she sees me coming with one :yikes: Emma couldn't care less.

I said 3/4, but I like wide collars (funny though, neither of my dogs have very wide collars, lol!). Chloe's about 10-12lbs, and I don't think she'd look too horridly odd with even a 1" collar. It depends. I think for Tucker, 3/4 would be just fine - for Emma, I'd go quite a bit smaller.

Thanks for the imput :)

I'm still debating this lol. I know for sure that I don't want to go bigger than 1/2" for Rylie and Emma. Not sure if I want to do 3/8" with Emma or not.

Tucker could handle 3/4", but I think I want to go with 1/2".

I don't have input for the little guys, but Rory is the exact same weight and neck size as Eve! Mini-BCs, unite!

The collar I *really* want for Tucker is only available in 3/4"... and I think he can pull that one off.

This is what I'm thinking.

Tucker:

Light blue rhinestones :)

Rylie (1/2")... light pink rhinestones instead of the turquoise... in black:

And Emma (3/8"... matches her BFF Rory :p )

This is the one I wanna get Jackson. But I wanna see if they can do it in 5/8".
I'm sure they can. I know that when I talked to them about getting rhinestones on Rylie's, they told me they could make them wider if needed.

I feel like 3/8" seems TINY, but it's what she has now and it still looks good sized on her!

I think Emma could totally pull off the 3/8" and it be perfect for her. She's so dainty and pretty anyways.

Thanks!

Do you think the Le Cheat is too boyish for her? The only other 3/8" collar they have is this one, and it's SO not Emma!:

Maybe I should go with 1/2". Ugh, decisions!
