Laura, if my hair were that long I'd never, ever have it up, lol! Not like I'd ever put my hair up no matter how long it is ;)

Oh, and photos do not do Kerri or Laura justice at all. :)

I wear it down more than the other people with really long hair I know. But between the heat and driving with the windows down and daily swimming.. It was up most of the trip..

I even ordered new hairsticks to pick up in TN during the trip lol.

Only 11 of them are mine.. ;)

You couldnt pay with your debit card at the pump? Thats how i always pay for gas 'put the card in and then start pumping until its full. I have even used my canadian bank card at the pump. Are there places that dont have it where you have to go in and pay?

Depends on your bank, also it can cost extra fees. As well all the American pumps warn that your bank can put a hold of up to a 100 dollars on your account. Since we were filling my car daily, sometimes up to 3 times in a day, it would suck to have a 300 dollar hold on less than 75 dollars worth of gas.

Here you NEVER get a hold on your account. It takes it directly.

(hey did you read our question to you :) ?)

Seems like a few years ago they ALWAYS held something (I think I noticed $50 most of the time). But I haven't had a hold in a long time. I stil see the stickers on all the pumps saying they can, but no actual holds.

Those pics are all AWESOME. So jealous! I demand that you come somewhat close to me on your next trip :p

I've only ever had a hold of $1 on my card, if anything at all. Paying with cash is usually cheaper, but I don't feel like taking the extra time to walk inside, lol.

Were you guys in Havre de Grace? That lighthouse looks familiar.

The pictures are awesome!! Looks like you had alot of fun! :D Makes me want to go camping (and I hate camping, usually ^^)

Yeah the gas stations in the US are weird. :p I can't tell you how often I almost had a fit at the pump, because for 1. They are all different. At some you pay first and then pump, at others you don't ect. ect. and 2. They never wanted to take my credit card, because I have a chip in mine, and you Americans don't have those yet. :p

My SIL just came down and they wouldn't take her card at the pump, she had to go into the store to prepay because it wasn't a USA card, she was from Canada.

Great pictures, and great trip!! What a wonderful adventure

ahhh I see what you mean. I never realized about the hold thing. We've never had one when filling up that I can recall.

no I totally missed the question the first time around lol I was reading on my phone.

I actually have not but everytime i drive by I wonder but I've just never stopped. I should. If it's real amish made stuff it will be neat... but if it's touristy knock off stuff then it will probably suck lol. but considering where we are I would veture to guess it's real amish made stuff.

yeah I didn't think about how it depends on the card. I know on the back they all have little symbols and then usually the ATM's and gas pumps and stuff will have symbols and if they match then your card will work there. or at least that's how I understand it.... but I haven't had a coffee yet. can you tell? LOL

It looks like you guys had such a great time! It was really interesting to read about the differences between the US and Canada that you noticed. I haven't been to Canada since I was 13 (we lived an hour from the border in Maine).

I really wish you would've gone further South! None of us have ever gotten ticks down here *hint hint*

I loved looking at all of the pictures... and a huge CONGRATS on all of those ribbons!

No one came to visit me in Louisiana. :(

And we have the best food ever. :p

And I could used the terrors to rid my yard of some destructive mangy moles. I've got enough tunneling to make them happy for days. :D

Maybe I should try to make a trip down there . . . when the weather's cooler, lol. Bimmer is HELL on moles :D

Maybe a lagniappe on the way to visit Filarotten ;) Except that I'd have Kharma with me, not Bimmer. She's pretty thorough on moles, too. I'm surprised that your dogs haven't been all over that though! Of course, moles don't actually hurt anything; they're beneficial because they eat the grubs and beetles that eat your garden and they help aerate the soil, not to mention fertilize it ;)

Ours have the right symbols, but often don't work in debit machines. Which actually was a big difference to us. Seems most Canadians pay for all transactions (everywhere, not just gas) with debit. Heck you go to a sidewalk sale and they have portable card readers. But in the US our cards were 'weird' because they don't have Master Card of Visa symbols on them (which we don't know why they would as they aren't credit cards)

Oh that reminds me of another difference. Smoking. FAR FAR more smokers in the US, plus all the tabbacco products just out and about in stores (in Canada they are all behind the counter, here you can't even see them you have to ask for them) Most gas stations in some states had drive through windows for people getting smokes... ewww lol.

Oh and we got carded a lot when we bought alcohol. Since the age is later they card older people. It was also fun being able to buy alcohol in Walmart, even if they did have issues with trying to figure out our Ontario ID.
