You'll probably be surprised when you get to the auction. I went to one recently, and it was really very sad. There were 100% healthy, fairly well trained horses that were going for WAY below their real value. The owners were just crushed. But the horse market is down, and they have very little choice.

Thanks! I think he's pretty handsome ;)

Yes, horses prices are down a lot. Here in Canada too. I was at a reining/cutting futurity auction a couple weeks ago....started 2 and 3 year olds with FANTASTIC blood lines were selling for $2500 and under. It was insane! Most were going for between $1,000 - $2,000.

My friend got a Dash for Cash weanling for $500!!!! Dash for Cash on her papers. Most breeders sell colts with those type of blood lines for $3000 +. Well, used to anyways.

Probably mainly photography. I'm a photographer for my friend's online Mag. Nothing huge, but it's a start :)

I guess you could also count herding as a hobby right now, since I go so rarely! :(

I know bad the horse market is. A friend of my dad's has a horse farm and people are surrendering their horses to them left and right to them. Horses worth over $2000 to $4000.

I really hope I can get a horse for pretty cheap but already worht something, if that makes sense. LOL

Recently I spend about 2 hours each night reading The Economist. About 15 pages per night I would say.

Very enlightening.

besides the obvious (dogs) and everything relating to them (agility, rally, obedience, tracking, etc.)

I like photography, writing on occasion, drawing on occasion, and cooking on occasion (I think those all qualify as hobbies)... especially since they're done infrequently.
