I registered us with Cynosport and then emailed a PDF of our entry form. If we do well, there is a November Trial close enough for us to make. Entries close 10/24 so I have time to go to this one and see.

Gah! I SENT IN THE ENTRY FORMS! Cue freaking out!!!!!

Ok, so now I'm looking at the signs. HaHa.

What does "call front- forward right" & "call front- forward left" mean? What I can find on YouTube shows them to be a call front, finish right/left but they also have those signs... So are they different?

Also, how do the bonus signs work? Does the judge pick? Do you have to do them all?

Ok, that makes sense. I couldn't figure out the difference but new there had to be one!

This will be interesting. I'm going to screw up the signs. Haha.

Which one/where is the trial?

I'd like to finish Romeo out but I am kind of stuck between "he's half blind and generally crashes through the jumps" and I feel bad entering him in Veteran because he's not..decrepit. The dogs entering in Veteran around here are truly geriatric, slow moving.
We did some rally novice in UKC a few weeks ago though, and Romeo was thinking the signs were people I think. "HELLO SIGN! Oh, you are not a people." We did Q for both trials though.

The judge chooses a bonus exercise. You have the option of doing it or not doing it. It is worth 10 extra points and the only way you can DQ yourself by doing the bonus is if your dog leaves the ring. I choose whether or not I'm going to do it based on the dog I'm showing and the bonus.

This is Hartford? And there is also an APDT expo there the same day? I'm in!

I'm confused by the premium, do they allow DOS entries??
Yes, that is the one. It also said entry to the trial also counts a admission to the expo. :)

So when I read the premium I remember it saying they would accept day of entries but there are only 90 available spot total.

That being said, she told me she accepts faxed or emailed entry forms so you can still fax/email her today and you're good(entries close today).

Also the SO is coming and he will be filming me, we can film you too if you want?

And thank you Springer. The only sign I never tried was the recall to front and then finish left/right but we did it last night and he got it on the first try.

Now about leaving the ring. LOL. I have no idea, like I said this will be our first. He works well offleash in general though. I guess I'll just have to feel out his attention to me. But I wanted Cynosport because I wanted food in the ring to introduce him to the trial environment. He loves food. :)

I emailed last night but I haven't heard anything. :) Usually they let you enter after the closing date but I'm not sure where this is a convention and everything. The premium says "Day of show entries are only accepted." So I'm assuming there is a typo.

I need to go to work and will tell you about that judge tonight... just keep in mind level 1 rally is on leash. And also you can only give food after stationary exercises...I get confused by this so I don't usually bring food in. It was also suggested I was luring because he was looking at my hand on my stomach and I had food on me. Ack, more later.. I'm so late for work :p.

I took that to mean if you don't sign up by the 19th then it's first come first serve day of.

This should be interesting then. The soul reason I wanted to do Cynosport was because of food in the ring. And I keep my hand on my hip as my way of saying "I still need your attention."

Oh well, as I said my goal is being in the ring with him. So if we get DQ'd or 5/200 but he kept focus on me than I got what I wanted and it was a success. If I read all the sign wrong and cue the wrong things but I stayed in the ring and actually cued well enough that he did what I cued... Than it was a success! At least that's what I am going to tell myself. :p

She emailed me back, yes it was a typo and DOS entries are not accepted. She said I can email the entry so I'm going to see if I can get everything together and send it over. Just trying to figure out what classes...

This judge wasn't the one that said something about luring. The same judge also said it didn't matter because I NQ'd on the bonus exercise because he broke a sit stay (anticipated, before I recalled). Even though you aren't supposed to be NQ'd for the bonus. Oh well. :p WCRL is..interesting. I'm going to keep Fi in AKC I think.

I will have my hand on my stomach because that's how we roll :p. I don't really care but I hate NQing because of something stupid. This judge is pretty ok.. make sure you are conscious about returning to normal pace before continuing onto the next exercise and that there is a definite transition between the speeds.

Haha nooo! You will do great!
I never saw a rally sign before I entered my first trial :p. Romeo's a bit ditzy in the ring...
I honestly have no idea what will happen because this will our first time out. So it will be interesting. He knows all the things... Now if he will pay attention and do them? Well... We will see. HaHa.

Hooray!

Over the weekend Lars was finally able to get that last RAE leg we needed for his title. We were supposed to go and get it way back in March but my car had other plans on our way to the trial....like transmission fluid all over the highway! Then Lars had his shoulder soft tissue injury that laid him up all summer long. He had a 96 in Excellent and a 100 in Advanced! He's funny...the older he's gotten and the more experienced he's gotten in obedience, he finds rally heeling frustrating with all of the start/stop stuff in it and he RAWRS his fool head off in protest while in the ring. LOL He will be happy to know that he doesn't have to start/stop heel anymore...now he can just do obedience heeling from now on.

It was a two trial on one day show and Ocean was able to get his first two legs of his RE out of the way. He is a little rusty in rally since he and I have been doing agility all spring and summer long. He got a 91 in the first attempt. I had sort of done a sign over...sit-stand-sit. He sat quickly and then stood without me telling him to and that first sit was so fast, I wasn't even sure if he had really sat. So I just did it over and that was 3 point there. I'm not sure where he lost the other points...and it's fine, I was looking more for happy attitude than precision. The second attempt he earned a 97 which is more like what he normally gets in the rally ring. Good boy O!
