Please note: Your dog should be able to stand up and turn around inside the bag. Inside compartment is approximately 11" smaller in length and 5" smaller in width than outer dimension. Airline requirements on pet carriers apply to hard containers, not these soft-sided bags. Your carry-on bag must be able to fit under the seat in front of you. When picking as size it is always more accurate to base your decision off of the measurements verse the weight capacity. As for cleaning, this carrier is safe to machine wash only occasionally. We strongly recommend that you soak and hand wash to ensure the longevity of your carrier.
