Yet another pit bull attack in my area

I am just amazed, although I shouldnt be, because this seems to be the trend for the past month in my area.

Two loose pit bulls attacked a pony last night. Neighbors ran over and beat the dogs off. Pony was left needing over 300 stitches on its face. Can hardly eat, because its jaw muscles are torn apart.

The dogs ran off after being beaten. One neighbor said the dogs were dripping with blood from head to tail, so if the dogs ran back home, the owners should know that it was THEIR dogs. Whether they come forward or not is a different story.

This has been the second attack in two weeks. The third attack in one month. All together in involves 7 pit bull type dogs. I just cant believe how many attacks are happening in such a short period of time. The whole 5 years I lived in Arizona I never once heard of pit bull attacks there, and only ONE dog attack that I can think of. If this trend continues... the fate of pitties with BSL doesn't look good at all. I am getting VERY worried being a pit owner!! Growing more angry with idiots who own this breed.

Reggin, is this in Tacoma again??

I don't know WTF is up with people around here lately. They have all lost the little brain cells they had!! I don't own a pit type dog at all, but I don't want to see a BSL in this area at all!! At least I know I will vote against it if it happens, and I'm sure you will too. :)

Pit Bulls Attack Tacoma Pony
Lowell Deo, Q13 FOX News

TACOMA — Pierce County Animal Control hopes to get to the bottom of a vicious pit bull attack involving a pony.

The attacked happened at around one o'clock Saturday morning near the 39-hundred block of Gay Street East in Tacoma. Some nearby neighbors say they heard noises and went outside in time to see two pit bulls hanging off of a shetland pony. The two men clubbed the dogs with pool cues while a woman went for help.

The dogs escaped and now the pony's owner is trying to figure out which of his neighbors dogs may have attacked.

Animal control officers are due to begin their investigation sometime on Monday.

Meanwhile, the pony is on the mend.

Wow that's really sad. I feel bad for the pony and spitting mad about the idiot that let his/her pitties run amok.

It is so sad that these dogs are so popular. And unfortunately responsible owners are the minority.

Yup, thats the one. Thanks for the link!

I will definitely vote against BSL if it ever happens. I will move back to Arizona if forced to give up my dog!!

The thing that really bothers me about articles like this is who is the expert that identified these dogs as "pit bulls"? I know of very few people that can accuaratly identify most breeds of dogs let alone a pit bull type. Just because it is a short haired medium sized dog, does not mean that its a pit bull.

Far too often in these stories, Pit bulls are the victim of missidentification by witnesses of these acts. So as a result, the pit bull once again gets the blame for an act caused by another breed of dog.
